Discussion of Official Seeding
I think you all have Duluth east over rated. We'll see.

Re: Official Class AA & A Seedings
So did Coon Rapids have to forfeit a bunch of games for an ineligible player? If so then wouldn’t they drop close to bottom?

Re: Discussion of Official Seeding
Split these off the official seeding thread so that it can remain just the official seeds. Discussion can continue here.

Re: Discussion of Official Seeding
I don’t see a problem with these seedings . East has earned the 1 in my opinion. Either they or Andover will make a nice team at state. We all know Andover is St. Paul worthy but this Duluth team could be fun to watch down there. They are my dark horse pick. I’m obviously not a a huge East fan but only Tonka and Edina have been as good for the last 3 months. Again, just my opinion.

I would also add that no matter what happens from here on out- Warroad is the best team in the state.
Re: Discussion of Official Seeding
And the Indians gave them a tough game. Any of the top 3 seeds could come put of 7. And I agree with your take on Warroad.grindiangrad-80 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 12:04 am I would also add that no matter what happens from here on out- Warroad is the best team in the state.

Re: Discussion of Official Seeding
Section 7A seeds:
1. Hermantown
2. Rock Ridge
3. Duluth Denfeld
4. Hibbing/Chisholm
5. Proctor
6. Greenway
7. International Falls
8. North Shore
9. Ely
10. Moose Lake
THIS IS INTERESTING.
Most (by most I mean me) thought it was a battle between RR and Hibbing for second.
Denfeld gets third.
I don't think it is outlandish but maybe surprising.

Re: Discussion of Official Seeding
Agree that it's not outlandish, but Hibbing absolutely had an overall better resume than Denfeld and deserved the #3 seed. In fact, I'd say Hibbing had a better argument for the #2 seed than Denfeld had for the #3 seed. Was looking forward to a Hibbing-RR rubber match, but that aint gonna happen now unless we get a Miracle On Ice II.elliott70 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 17, 2023 11:25 am Section 7A seeds:

Geez did Centennial know that 5AA didn’t vote yet? Andover putting them in running time isn’t a good final impression prior to vote.
Re: Discussion of Official Seeding
I could see Thursday games being weather delayed if we end up having this snowstorm of biblical proportions.

Section 4AA seeds:
1. White Bear Lake
2. Stillwater
3. Hill-Murray
4. Gentry Academy
5. Roseville
6. East Ridge
7. Woodbury
8. Tartan
Interesting 2/7 matchup. Both games Woodbury & Stillwater played went to OT. Split the season series.

Re: Discussion of Official Seeding
Class A Seedings all in now final thoughts...
1A went exactly how predicted no real surprise
2A had Waconia 6, Hutch 7 & LDC 8. The Dragons got credit for early season wins and over looked the 2nd loss of series hutch and Spit with Mound to stay at 6 otherwise looked the same as predicted
3A went exactly how predicted
4A I thought Simley would get into the 4/5 game with late season wins over 2 seed Chisago and 3 seed Two Rivers in last two weeks but no dice.
5A I agreed with Monti at 2 if they lost a close game to SCC because SCC had the 3 goal loss to Cambridge. Otherwise looked pretty much as predicted.
6A went exactly how predicted
7A was the biggest surprise I am still not sure how Denfeld was 3 over Hibbing they tied and Hibbing did better vs common opponents and lost to RR by a goal late in the year whereas Denfeld got routed. That was the biggest mystery of any of the section votes. I like rainer theory they got rewarded for going to AA next year.
8A went exactly how predicted.
Overall should some fun sectionals in Class A let the Games begins...... ohh and don't look at the weather report for this upcoming week

Re: Discussion of Official Seeding
For all of the squawking about head coaches doing the seeding, and how horrible that can be, that is completely undercut by the results of the AA section tournaments this week. With only a few unnotable exceptions, the games have played out as expected, with plenty of 1 vs 2 finals set up for this week.
I'd call the Woodbury win over Stillwater a shocker, but barely so. Plenty of people here expected at least one upset in the first round of 4AA, and it's not like anyone expected the Ponies to go make a significant run at the X. In any event, no one could have made the case that Woodbury should have been seeded higher.
Number five beating #4 in both 2AA and 6AA is not at all a surprise, and #3 LVN over #2 Mayo is also in no way a surprise.
Sections 4AA and 5AA still have semi-finals to play, and the only result that would shock me in those games is for Rogers to lose to Centennial. Hill has been so uneven this season, I can easily see a path, slim though it may be, for Woodbury to make it to the final. Having barely bested Henry Sib.....uh....Two Rivers, Hill cannot look past anyone.

This question is for the real section playoff trivia geeks !
At Braemar last week , why did the 3AA higher seed semi home team fans sit on the far side behind benches ?
But for 2AA Braemar semis , the higher seed home team fans sat on the near side penalty box side ?

Nope , Braemar had the sides marked that way .
