Warroad enters the Semifinals having gotten a good test from a young St Cloud Cathedral team in the Quarterfinals. However, as they have done all year the 1st line steps up and they are able to enter Friday afternoon still unbeaten at (28-0-1). The Warriors will now take on an Orono team that they played over Christmas up north and were able to beat the Spartans 5-2.

Orono comes into the Semifinals having won a battle in overtime in the Quarterfinals over Northfield. The Spartans used their formula of timely goal scoring and great goaltending to win their 24th game of the year. They now face #1 Warroad who they did play strong earlier this winter tied 1-1 after 2 periods before the Warriors pulled away. One key note from that game was the absence of Star Senior Goalie Brock Peyton who was still recovering from injury.

Will the Warriors continue their roll and head into the Class A Championship Game unbeaten or will Brock Peyton and Orono be able to shock the Warriors and return to the Class A title like they did the last time in St Paul in 2018?

Should be an entertaining semi-final. A speedy Orono team vs. a playmaking Warroad team. I was impressed with Orono's speed, but they seem to rely on chaotic scoring whereas Warroad definitely scores by playmaking, great passes and hockey sense on where they need to be. #17 and #18 definitely have great chemistry. I was very impressed with Pilgrim's speed and Shaugabay's backchecking and passing. His pick pocketing play reminded my of Datsyuk a little bit.

Warriors got a fortunate bounce early and the Big Line comes through late to build a lead. Orono did have good chances but Hammer is locked in net. Will be an uphill climb for Orono.

Boy, that 5:00 major might sink Warroad. Everyone knows the game is fast, but what a terrible penalty to take.
I should add that I am very glad that young man from Orono didn't appear to be injured. It looked bad.

Have to admire how Shaugabay draws a crowd of 4 Spartans making them lose sight or forget about Comstock trailing behind the lone Spartan on the other side. The Spartan player noticed Comstock too late who then couldn't catch up and it was over.
Credit Orono for keeping up the fight much like Moorhead the night before and congrats to Warroad.
They won't have the rematch lots of us were hoping for but Mahtomedi will give them a game.
