St. Cloud Area Players

Post by ghshockeyfan »

I saw 6 players that really impressed me this weekend, some probably are aware of all of them, but wanted to mention them...

For Sartell/Sauk Rapids:

#24 Meierhofer - D 12th (no surprise here)
#31 Haroldson - G 12th (no surprise here)
#29 JV G - I don't have her name - will be hard to replace Haroldson, but she's ready and then some to play V and play well.

For St. Cloud Icebreakers:

#12 Schleper - D 10th (no surprise here)
#22 Carpenter - C 12th (no surprise here)
#16 Kelsey Lucia - F 9th - Big Strong Freshmen with great potential. Keep an eye on her...

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckeyfan at: 12/4/05 10:21 am

St.Cloud Area players

Post by puckdaddy22 »

I saw both games that Simley played this last weekend in St. Cloud and Sartell that thought the girls form the St.Cloud area played well. Sartell/ Sauk Rapids played Simley tuff and battled back form 0-3 to tie the game and send it into overtime. The biggest play of the game had to be the penalty shot that the sartell goalie stopped. A big momentium shifter at that point in the game. Sartell played Simley tough last year also.

The Icebreaker game also was played very even for most of the game but Simley just kept pressing and created oppertunities in front of the net. As I said both good games and shows how girls hockey has improved in the St. Cloud area.

Harolsdon made a HUGE save on the PS by one of the better breakaway players I've seen as a coach. I forgot to mention this.

Sartell/SR always plays Simley tough, and they took advantage of the 26 penalty minutes in the game against Simley - especially in the third period. The 5v3 goal by Meierhoffer was the turning point, and the two other PP goals were a great comeback. The Sartell PP and 5 3rd period simley penalties we're huge - along with the play of Meierhoffer and Haroldson - in this game.

<a href="http://www.esportsdesk.com/leagues/hock ...

Simley continued to rack up the Penalty Minutes this year (average 20 a game so far...) in the St. Cloud Icebreakers game with 14 penalties for 36 minutes in this game alone. Hard to play shorthanded with other numbers challenges to date - but then Penalties add insult to injury... Again, 3rd period saw multiple PP opportunities for Simley opponent - almost a repeat of Sartell game! this time Simley was able to hang on even while being outshot 18 to 7 in third with 7 penalties for 22 minutes that period ALONE! One of these (10+2) came at end or regulation, so PK turned away all 5 PP opportunities for the Icebreakers due to Mel Gerten's stong play in net (stopped 36 of 37 shots in the game - 18 of 18 in 3rd).

<a href="http://www.esportsdesk.com/leagues/hock ...

I think you get a ton more info. and understanding when you see a detailed boxscore...

linked above...

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckeyfan at: 12/6/05 10:03 am

Forgot to mention - I think that the Icebreakers and Stormn Sabres coaches are doing great things in the St. Cloud area and both are some of the most dedicated coaches.

Both programs will do well long term with these coaches in place.

And I apologize if it is a problem for you that I support the players of my daughter's team. This is an open forum though, if I do remember correctly.

Kassa and Dold I know are strong, the others I don't know about as I don't know the St. Cloud area players that well, and I was just commenting on the two area teams/players I saw in our trip up there.

Didn't mean to insult anyone by not mentioning them!
