Although there are a litany of reasons he should have been let go anytime in the last 3 years, it was coach’s resignation.

Joe Cullen has stepped down as HC of Gentry Academy. Joe led the Stars to the 2021 Class A state championship.
Joe will take on a coaching and administrative role with Northstar Christian Academy in Alexandria, MN. Which team he will coach has yet to be announced.

From a FOX21 online news story:
GRAND RAPIDS, Minn.- Grand Rapids head boys varsity hockey coach Wade Chiodo has been serving as director of player personnel for the Oklahoma Warriors of the NAHL the last three seasons.
Now, he’s preparing for a new gig as Chiodo was named as Team President.
Chiodo will still serve as head coach of the Thunderhawks for this upcoming season.
Grand Rapids is coming off a season in which they went 13-13-1.

This has to be the lowest turnover of head coaching roles in a long time - great to see! It's usually around 20.

Long term solution? Not sure how much it matters but interesting that the GR head gig has been a revolving door since LaRoque hung it up in 2013.
Excited about this hire though.

I suspect that will happen with increasing frequency. Lee Smith and Mike Randolph got run off, once Bill Lechner and Curt GIles step back, as they will someday, we may no longer see long term coaches at high profile programs.north_bear wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 4:12 pmLong term solution? As I recall, it was on this forum a few years back where I read about turmoil at Ely. Now I barely pay attention to Class A hockey, but I wasn't even aware Ely had a hockey team, and don't believe they've ever done anything of note. And yet, apparently even a program like that is subject adults stirring up a hornets nest.
Hockey Is For Everyone
