I’d love to see Roseau back in tourney this year, as I think it’s their last chance to make it anytime soon. Unfortunately, with Jensen last week suffering horrible leg injury needing surgery and out for season, I don’t see them getting by Moorhead. I hope I’m wrong.

Wayzata up 2-0 after first period. SOG: Wayzata 17, Tonka 4. These two teams are tied in the series at 4-4-2 for last 10 games. Tonka outscored last two opponents 28-0 combined.

UPDATE: After two periods, Tonka leads 3-2. SOG: Wayzata 24, Tonka 16. The live stream camera operator seems to have bailed. The camera is pointed straight ahead at center ice, and viewers cannot see the action at either goal. Hopefully it gets fixed for the third period.

UPDATE: 4-4, going into OT. These two teams tied earlier in the season.

FINAL: Tonka wins 5-4 in OT. Really good game overall, very even teams.

Saw Shakopee play for the second time last night... Huson is about as good of a goalie you as you could ask for. Watched him make 60 saves against Rogers and then last night it felt like HF was never going to get anything by him. Probably won't be invited but he should definitely be considered for a Brimsek finalist spot.

Tonka win in OT 5-4.

Two very even teams.

Yup the two games between these squads , 1-1 tie and 5-4 OT win , were about as good as it gets in Minny HS hockey for many many years . And crowds in the range of 2000+- at each , Well done boys !

The sections at least should offer some fireworks in 2 and 6. Despite their undefeated record, Tonka is clearly not unbeatable. Whether or not that's vs. Chan in sections or later Edina/Wayzata at state, the title this year is still very much up for grabs.

Good game at Memorial last night. Moorhead lead 1-0 after one and Roseau scored 3 straight in the second and Moorhead got one back before the 2nd ended. Moorhead tied the game in the third with a shot from below the goal line with the net off a foot. Roseau eventually got the lead back and iced it with 2 empty netters. If there is a rematch down the road, it should be a dandy. I say if, because there will be some upsets in the Section playoff as there are several teams capable of making it to St. Paul.

Good question. Personally, I don't see anyone doing much to unseat the top 4. The sections are so wonky this year. You've got 7 of the top 9 teams in two sections. Thats insane. It's possible Benilde pulls an upset in sections.

Rogers, Maple Grove, STA, EP, Shakopee & Andover all seem a step (or two) behind. Section 4AA is a cluster of good but not great teams that I don't see making noise at the X. Section 1AA is a mess. To me, this just feels like a year where there will be little to no upsets. Happy to be proven wrong, but I just don't see it. I would have put my house up in a bet last night that the Lakers would lose to the Celtics in Boston without AD and LeBron, and that didn't happen. So what do I know

Still see Tonka still favored over the other top 4 by about 55/45 or 60/40 . But Chan is capable of an upset in sections . And either Wayzata or Edina capable of an upset over Tonka at State

As far as any others threat to the top 4, BSM is capable of an upset in sections

HM always capable of an upset at state , took Tonka to OT in last years qfinal game

Don't realistically see Section 1, 3 , 5, 7 or 8 upsetting the top 4 . But there is always Mike Randolph if STA makes it in... ?
And Rapids has a couple goalies who could steal a game... ?

Not to get this thread down a rabbit hole of restructuring the sections and state tournament, but imagine a Semifinal Friday at the X of Tonka, Wayzata, Edina, and Chan. That would be one for the ages.
