Yeah, that's great, but I'd still like for someone to tell me what the similarities and differences are between these two leagues. I imagine that one draws better players. Or maybe players are able to participate in both leagues?

Are you talking about the Bantam Elite League, or the High School Elite League?

From looking at the Minnesota Hockey website, the Youth 18U League is the Elite League for Boys, and the Girls 16U and 18U are their Elite Leagues.

Youth Tier I 18U (elite league)

GIRLS tier i 16u (elite league)

Well there is this thread about this Fall Tier 1 league, and another thread about the HS Elite League. And I'm just curious what the differences and similarities are.

It does all get very confusing. It seems like anyone with a couple of dollars in their pocket can start up a league and call it an Elite League. I tend to like to follow those that are sanctioned by Minnesota Hockey.

Did a little more digging. The other thread that talks about the HS Elite League is the Upper Midwest HS Elite League. That appears to be listed under Minnesota Hockey as Youth Tier 1 18U.

https://www.hselitehockey.com/home

https://www.minnesotahockey.org/page/sh ... tier-i-18u

Then there is the Youth High Performance 18U League. It looks like this one is made up of the Minnesota Hockey District teams and is the "Tier II" league and will send a team to Tier II National Tournament.

So, it sounds like the Fall Elite league is where a player would choose to go first if he had a choice?

Also, it sounds like the Fall Tier 1 league consists of fewer games?

Are there players that play in both leagues?

Both 18U leagues are sanctioned and recognized by Minnesota Hockey.

At 18U, the HS Elite League would be the top (Tier I) league and the Fall HP League would be the Tier II (Prospects) league if they followed the same nomenclature as the other leagues. At least that is how I am reading things with those two leagues.

Typically no on whether players can play in both leagues or not. Both of these are sanctioned by Minnesota Hockey, so you cannot be dual rostered. There are a few instances/exceptions, at least at the youth level, where a Tier II player is called up to play Tier I or a player is called up to a higher age group due to injuries or absences. But as far a being dual rostered, that would be a no.

I debated with myself about whether to put the Shattuck games in there. But, I came to the conclusion to focus on the Minnesota Youth players and those that are most likely to play high school hockey. Yes, I know some of these younger kids will get to go elsewhere, but a majority will be MN players.
