I had this discussion with Derek Felska on Twitter today: we really need someone to do a Ken Burns level documentary on the history of the State Hockey Tournament. There was a doc from Fox Sports Net several years ago now but that was only an hour. I feel a much longer, detailed look at the state tournament would be nice.
My dream vision would be three 1.5 to 2 hour long parts or "periods"
Period 1:1945 - 1968
Pre-tourney history, origins of the 1st tournament, Eveleth wins 1st title and starts a dynasty, other Northern powers dominate early years, St. Paul Johnson breaks thru as biggest metro power
Period 2: 1969 - 1993
Edina arrives on the scene/69 title game, power shifts to the suburbs, private schools join the party, Rapids dynasty, move to the Met Center and later the Civic Center, end of the one class system, two year experiment with Tier 1 and 2
Period 3: 1994 - Present
Class A and AA system, Jefferson dynasty, Spehar and East vs Apple Valley, move to the Target Center and eventually the Xcel Energy Center, seedings come into play, tribute to Lou Nanne

Re: Wishing for a State Tournament Documentary
Could be one of those Fox 9 Docs, like they just did on the North Stars.
