I said it yesterday, I was predicting an EP upset over Shako. But now since they pulled out the OT win last night against Wayzata, the chances of that happening drop significantly IMO. I hate Shako, so I'll be there in person too hoping for the best.

East avoids being one loss away from the worst start in school history with a 2-1 OT win over Brainerd today. They're now 1-7 on the season.

Shako battles back from a 4-1 deficit to make it a 4-4 game with EP at the end of 2. The parade to the box a concern for EP. Getting burned on the PK. Huson came in relief in Sabers goal after the 3rd EP goal.

HM wins 7-1. Sloppiest game they played all year. Over half their attempted shots missed the net completely. They had constant possession but complete lack of sharp passing. They have a week off to think about it.

EP hangs onto win 6-5 over Shakopee. Not the prettiest game, but the Eagles have two straight quality wins.

EP may have won 6-5, but Shakopee really impressed me. They need to quit getting down 3 goals to good teams. But they can play with anyone in their section and will be dangerous this year.

Fun game to watch. Shako battles back from 4-1 to make it a game before EP puts it away. EP needs to stay out of the Box (no pun intended), but I like their physical, aggressive play. A solid week with two wins over a top 10 team.

Holy smokes was that tendy from Shako a big boy.

What impressed you about them? Their ability to bounce back? I thought there were some flashes of total puck control (like the 2nd period), but nothing that really merits all the talk about them being a top 3 team to start this year. You can’t go down 4-1, battle back, then go back down two again shortly after. It’s still early in the season but I figure they’ll struggle in tight tough games like tonight.

Yeah, they dominated the last half of the second period and into the third. EP took a bunch of penalties which made a difference. I think Shakopee can score and if they get up a couple goals on someone in section, could be lights out. Give the kids some time to mature.

Huson was picked up by the U17 NTDP team when they were here to play against the Elite League All-Star team this fall.

Was at the game.

Shakopee: I think their ceiling is higher than EP's, but man, they are careless in their own zone. Good thing for them is they should have plenty of time to attempt to get that end figured out during January going in to the stretch run. They didn't help themselves in terms of 6AA seeding. But you can see the talent there.

EP: I don't know if they have a state title winning team, but they definitely have the ability to ruin it for someone that does. They let Shakopee back in it with their 3 trips to the box in the 2nd. But impressive 3rd & took advantage of it.

A nice week for EP; have set themselves up nicely for 6AA, which is important for first round game; I think 6AA is 6 deep, not in terms of state title teams, but in terms of tough teams in a one & done game.

I was puzzled why they didn't start Huson from the beginning for a big section game. Huson starts that game and it's probably a different result. Shako had EP on the ropes in the 3rd, but EP got bailed out on a penalty and took advantage.

EP is 2AA. Used to be 6AA a handful of years ago.

Huson isn’t even their starter. Lunneborg is the starter and is out with a concussion currently.

I keep mixing up 2AA & 6AA. I know who's with who, but not who's in what.
