I imagine the Edina/Hill tilt at “Netsoff” Arena is the game of the night.

Is that a pinot noir you've got there? I want to make sure I get the right type of cheese to go with the whine.

Or maybe just go to Surdyk's, they can advise you on both in one stop.

I'm taking HM over Edina tonight 5-3.

But even more interested to see how Hermantown bounces back after the Cloquet game with Moorhead tonight. Could the Hawks play their best game of the season and take down #1 in AA?

And the MNHockey stream is down for Edina-Hill. I should have gone to InterNETSOFF Arena in person.

With Hill’s OT loss, and assuming all the expected favorites make State, Hill’s only path to a #1 seed will almost assuredly require they win out. They have tight losses to Edina and STA, and play each of them again. They also play Rogers and Moorhead. Probably anything but a clean sweep would keep them from a top seed. Again, assuming they and the other favorites make it there.

Sounds like you already have Hill to have won section
They are the best team, however, Stillwater and white Bear Lake are capable of beating them. The last Stillwater Hill game was won by Hill, but other than the first 10 minutes of the game Stillwater clearly outs skated them. Stillwater also just beat St. Thomas. Watch out Pioneers.

Not sure how you got that from my comment where not once, but twice, I prefaced my observation by saying it's dependent on all favorites making State.
If all favorites make State
Hill's only realistic path to a #1 seed is likely to require sweeping their remaining games with Edina, STA, Moorhead, and Rogers.

The top 3 seeds at state this year in AA you can pretty much pencil in to be playing Friday night.

Now to see if this comes back to bite me a month and a half from now.

I wouldn't be so sure of that, weird things can happen at the X. In 2019, Edina beat EP 6–1, 5–2, and 7–2 during the regular season but was losing in the third period to them in the state championship and needed overtime to beat them. With the 2AA winner likely being the 6 seed, I could see an upset happening there, though I certainly wouldn't bet on it.

True, but that 2019 EP team isn’t in the same league as this year’s EP squad. Bigger drop off with EP over Edina vs. 2019.

There's a contingent of the board that believe to be the best you have to beat the best (often true, not always) or that seeding doesn't matter, you just have to go out and beat whoever you play (coach-speak, usually). I am not a subscriber to that way of thinking.

Being the one seed isn't that important I suppose. That said, I would much prefer to be one of the top 2-3 seeds at State this year. Assuming there are no upsets and the top seeds generally win their sections (color, bold, italicized and underlined so I don't have to respond to posters with reading comprehension issues), then it's better not to be in the 4-8 range this year. You'll play a much harder quarterfinal game. Someone is going to get to play a 1AA team that on paper should be an easy win. 7AA is interesting this year, but I would question whether or not that section is going to produce a team that won't be a 2-3 goal underdog at State. 2AA is odd and it's hard to say if an EP, Shakopee or anyone else would be favored against an STA, Edina, Hill, Moorhead, Rogers or even CDH and Stillwater.

Also, getting a two seed would help a team avoid playing whoever ends up as the #1 seed until a potential championship game (today, that's Moorhead and they are, you know, sort of good). So yeah, I would want a top 2-3 seed at State this year. I'd hate to come in at the 4 or 5 and end up playing an Edina-type team in the QF. I would want my team to have a path of least resistance to going as far as possible at State. That means, IMHO, avoiding a tough QF game so you can get to Friday night, and avoiding the #1 seed until as late as possible in the tourney. Just my opinion. There's clearly some posters that believe wholeheartedly in the opposite. Those folks may be the same ones that were posting all over twitter that it didn't matter who the Vikings played in the post season. Guess what, it mattered. A lot. You should want to avoid matchups that don't necessarily favor you. You should want to avoid teams that have momentum. Or you can believe you just gotta beat whoever's in front of you, which more often than not gets you bounced.

Sure, but this year’s Shakopee team is probably about as good and they’ll likely be the 6 seed if they make it to St. Paul

Per usual, minus section 1, anyone else could beat anyone else.

I can't see EP or Shako being favored over any of those teams. Stillwater I can't see getting to state without Conway. They're a top 5 team with Conway.

Stillwater - there's your bulletin board material. You're welcome.

I have never had the same fuzzies that everyone else seems to have for Shako. They’re just too inconsistent and never seem to win the big critical games. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see them getting out of sections for a while.
