Dodge County vs Winona - A Winhawks win would shake up the seed order big time in 1A but if Wildcats win still on track for #2 seed despite less than stellar season.

Alex vs Fergus Falls- Winner gets the #2 seed and loser the #3 seed in 6A but should be a good game and a likely Section 6A Semi Preview

Last night's game was exactly how the Bears will need to play to win two tough section games. Great goaltending and strong D. I actually thought WBL played a game that leaned into their strengths last night. They gave up a full length of the ice empty netter that was fairly impressive, and the other goal was a bad outlet pass that landed directly on the stick of an STA player, who fired it back toward Leo and it was tipped in. But, they just had very few (I counted maybe 3-4 AT MOST) realistic chances of scoring. They needed to capitalize on a couple of opportunities earlier in the game, and of course didn't.

I still think WBL is dangerous. I believe they'll get to Stillwater in sections, and at that point they should have a belief that they can win. They split the season series, have a goalie fully capable of stealing a 2-1 type game. At that point, it's back to The Rivalry, and anything can happen there - as has been shown plenty throughout the history of those two teams.

I'm not sure breaking up the Bear's top line would have any better results. Scoring depth has been a problem all year and probably will be next year. Maybe they can get a scorer through the "transfer portal". They had several grade A scoring chances and STA's goalie robbed them.

I thought bigger issue was the penalties they took. It was a flashback to the Sager era. That said, they did a great job on the kill. Stay out of the box and they have a shot against Stillwater and "powerful" Hill Murray.

Hopefully Aldrich can get some "Marsh pegs" for the arena before section playoffs. St. Thomas arena had the with a kit that had a bag with a little vacuum, a drill, and a squirt bottle. Probably less than grand. Less if you get some of the stuff at the hardware store.

Kind of funny reading all this WBL stuff, while I don't follow AA much, the Bears issues seem similar to the Jacks!
CEC relies heavily on Top Line shut them down and they have a hard time generating offense
CEC can get into the Penalty issues and spend large chunks of the game playing PK time with top guys makes them gassed for 5 v 5
CEC also has played #1 Warroad, #5 Hibbing, #8 MPLS and Roseau its been a tough stretch of teams but still games they want to win heading into sections.

CEC knocked off Hermantown and may have put too much stock in the regular season win. They are now (1-3-0) since and havent looked the same. Their starting goalie got ran last night and will be curious on his health for sections. Despite late season still should be the #1 seed in 7A when that comes out later this morning.

If they get the #1 seed they will be rooting for Hawks vs Hibbing. CEC does not match up well with Hibbing their 2 scoring lines just are a buzz saw for the Jacks to handle. As opposed to the Hawks who are getting no scoring of late and will allow it to be a tight game for their top lien to shine and bury 2 and they can win that game.

7A playoffs are gonna be fun.
