Re: AHA vs. SSM
by the end of the 5 on 5 i belive it was 4-0 ssm but i'm not totally sure. then they went into power play pentaly kill. aha started on power play. one of the aha girls got checked into the boards pretty hard by ssm, they stopped play, then stop the scrimmage and called an ambulance because the girl was in so much pain. i believe it had to do with her neck. it was a pretty rough game a lot of clutch and grab going on.

Game
peterpuck,

Thanks for asking, and she is doing well. It was pretty scary though. You never want to send an athlete home in an ambulance. Luckily no serious damage was done, but the player most likely will not be around for the playoffs, which will make things tough for AHA, but we haven't had a game yet this year where all of our top 13 skaters have been in uniform, I would hate to mess with the streak!

Tough Call
HH,

That's a difficult question to answer. They are a very talented team, and probably deeper than any team we have played this year. They were able to run 4 lines and 3 sets of D at us the whole night. The game was divided into 2 25 min halves, and I felt like although the score didn't show it we controlled play the first 10 min, and the last 12-15 min of play. Their top line was very talented, and they were playing without M. Lamaroux, who is I would guess their second best player(AHA played without D Romatoski which left our D corp a little thin for a high class match up). What I was most impressed with was their neutral zone regroup it was better than any team I have seen.

As far as physical play, we played USA hockey rules, with no touch-up. I think that lead to some NZ turnovers on our part, but I think our kids adapted pretty fast. In terms of physical play, I felt we were more physical on the puck than they were, but they were more physical away from the puck, which took us some time to adjust to.

I would say of the teams we have seen first hand this year:

BSM
EP
SSM

are the top three and each of these teams have a little different strength.

BSM speed
EP Skill w/ best player Pezon
SSM depth/physical play

I would expect SSM to beat any HS team they play with regularity, but I don't think it is out of the question for top 10 AA schools to be able skate with them, and on any given night come out on top.

Keep in mind that is just my assessment, and I have only seen them play once this season. I usually like to see a team play 3 times before I feel that I can make a reliable assessment of their caliber of play.
