Who at the MSHSL thought 6AA needed a fifth top 10 team?

Re: Section Changes
Yes, Maple Grove staying in 5AA had nothing to do with geography and everything to do with what’s best for MN high school hockey. Maple Grove, Edina, Tonka and Moorhead are the best youth programs in the state. MSHSL will never admit it but they don’t want to pair two of these programs in the same section. You could just as easily pair Tonka and Edina as you could Edina and Maple Grove, but they won’t.bardown27 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 7:42 pmRogers and Buffalo realistically both have drive by Maple Grove to get to every other rink in 6AA. Re: Section Changes
I know there are likely a lot of factors behind the scenes that I’m unaware of, but I gotta say I think I did a pretty darn good job with the AA sections compared to what the league came up with. Maybe they’d like to hire me on as a consultant. I did win my middle school’s geography bee in 8th grade

Truly asking: Can anyone explain how 6AA makes sense?
Re: Section Changes
I don't think you can. Placing STMA in 8, while Buffalo and Rogers go to 6 is strange. Can't go to/from either without going through STMA.Brodziak Fan Club wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 1:19 pm Truly asking: Can anyone explain how 6AA makes sense?

Re: Section Changes
Rogers in 6AA had to be some kind of April Fool's Joke. Maple Grove should be playing in 6AA then.
Good job MSHSL for messing up high school hockey in MN. Your gold star is in the mail. Wear it proudly.

They might as well just rank the top 64 and play it like March madness. At this point would make much more sense
Re: Section Changes
Actually, I like the idea. Develop a Pairwise system and take the top 64 and organize them into four regions in the state.StanleyCup55 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 12:04 am They might as well just rank the top 64 and play it like March madness. At this point would make much more sense

Yes and YES! Like a REAL tourney. Mix it up. Already too predictable - otherwise, same 5 teams every year, guaranteed...esp moving forward.
Alas, now we know why Rogers to Sec 6 ?!?!!?. Traditionalists will pine, but too bad. Turn the page and lets ROLL!

Speculating on that is about as useful as me speculating on what my first priority will be when I'm elected to represent the State of Minnesota when I am elected to the US Senate.CakeScout17 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 9:31 pm Yes and YES!
