A Traveling Trophy/Cup

Post by Joe2015 »

Ok here is my crazy idea for a traveling trophy/cup: you know how in boxing, the belt changes hands when someone beats the current belt holder?

This trophy would work like that. Whoever beats the team that currently has it would take it. For example, lets just say as defending champions, it started out as with Moorhead. When the lost, the other team takes the trophy.

Kinda like a few of the NHL writers have for the NHL, although theirs is virtual. They each pick 8 teams beginning of the year and track who has the most days/who finishes with it

Could be neat but since every team makes the postseason in high school hockey it doesn’t really matter after the regular season since the trophy holder at the end of the year would always be the state champ. Only intrigue is if it would be the AA or A champ.

You know there is a traveling trophy for the high school champions. It was in East Grand Forks last week or couple weeks ago each of the kids gets to do what they want

This was interesting research. Since I only had scores starting with the 1997-98 season, Edina was the Traveling Trophy holder at the start. The trophy changed hands too many times since then (181 times!) to list here so I put the whole history on my website.

Man, I have way too much free time on my hands.

This was really fun to scroll through! 30 games in a row is a lot. Also cool to see that I would have it in my locker room a couple of times.
