218 Sports Showcase in Bemidji

Post by BSUBeaver »

I love this idea!  218 Sports out of Bemidji is partnering with Bemidji State, local high schools and the Sanford Center to have Sports Showcase Weekends at the Sanford Center. One Day and Full Event passes can be purchased that will get you into all games for that day or weekend.

On January 9-10, they will host a Boys'/Men's Hockey Weekend with BSU taking on Michigan Tech right after Bemidji HS taking on East Grand Forks Friday, and Rock Ridge on Saturday.

On January 16-17, they will host a Girls'/Women's Hockey, with BSU taking on Minnesota, while Bemidji HS will take on Hill Murray and Orono (Warroad is also there and will flip flop opponents)

On February 12-14, they will host BSU's Men's and Women's basketball games with Northern State (Thursday) and Jamestown (Saturday) with a bunch of boys and girls high school games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

That's a very cool idea. I like the double header aspect to it. I could also see have a high school double header in one earlier session, and the college game as a night cap. There are a lot of teams that would fit in with this format. Spud, GR, TRF, Warroad, and throw in a metro squad or two.

Either way I'd consider a road trip.

They are doing that on the Women's side with Bemidji, Orono, Warroad and Hill Murray. Two high school games on Friday and Saturday (Bemidji and Warroad flipping opponents) and then the College game as the night cap.

I wonder if maybe they couldn't find a fourth team on the Men's side with an opening to make it work? The time is definitely there, could go with a noon, 3 PM and 7 PM starts. I know on Saturdays, the CCHA wants to start games at 6 PM so the visitors can get going back home, but even that would make it 11AM, 2 PM and 6 PM, still doable.
