A Rankings for 2/8/26
We’re heading into the final week of the regular season. The top six have been obvious, but we did see some movement in the 7-10 range now. The chaos looms in the 11-25 range. Check out where things stand with only a handful of games left. Week #12 Rankings Below:
1. Hermantown (16-4-4)
Past Week Results: T 3-3 OT Benilde St Margarets, L 2-6 Holy Angels
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 @ Grand Rapids
I wouldn’t call it the Hawks’ best week of the season this past week, as they tied below .500 Benilde and then got taken out at home by Holy Angels, but they do have wins over Hibbing, Mahtomedi & Delano and a tie with Warroad, which will keep them at the top of the A Rankings. They’re not going anywhere in these rankings next week, either, but they do wrap up the regular season with Grand Rapids who has played many Top Class A teams that could say a lot about where they’re headed.
2. Hibbing/Chisholm (19-2-2)
Past Week Results: W 4-3 Bemidji
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 vs #9 Cloquet/Esko/Carlton, 2/12 @ #19 Chisago Lakes
Hibbing fought past Bemidji on the road, and while it was not easy or pretty, they picked up their fifth straight win in their only game of the week. Now they wrap up the season with a rematch with the team they will more than likely face in a week or so at Amsoil for the 7A Semis when they take on Cloquet/Esko/Carlton. It should be a great game between these two teams with completely different styles, as they feel each other out and try not to show too much before the bigger game down the road.
3. Sartell (20-3-0)
Past Week Results: W 4-2 Totino Grace, W 10-1 Fergus Falls, W 6-1 #11 Detroit Lakes
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 vs #16 Northern Lakes, 2/14 @ Elk River
The Sabres continued their excellent season this week as they were able to come from behind on a sneaky Totino team on the road, and they plastered two more CLC teams, with the win over Detroit Lakes being the more impressive of the two, and clinched their 5th Straight Conference Title. They remain unbeaten in vs Class A competition, and they will look to put the finishing touches on that this week when they host Northern Lakes for the #1 seed in Section 6A.
4. Warroad (17-5-1)
Past Week Results: W 6-0 #17 East Grand Forks, W 3-2 West Fargo Sheyenne (N.D.)
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 vs Bemidji, 2/13 @ Little Falls
Warroad took care of rival East Grand Forks for a season sweep and survived a scare from West Fargo Sheyenne to have a clean week. As the only 8A team that is undefeated against section competition, they should be in line for the top seed. Now they will look to prepare to make run sections as they have two more dress rehearsals before the real thing starts, with the game vs Bemidji being the more challenging of the two in their final week.
5. Mahtomedi (13-9-2)
Past Week Results: W 9-0 Simley, W 3-2 Hastings
Upcoming Schedule: 2/13 vs #12 St Cloud Cathedral
The Zephyrs took out both Simley and Hastings this week to keep the steady train going for the clear class of Section 4A and the Metro East Conference for teams not named St Thomas or Hill Murray. They have an interesting final week, as the game with Cathedral will serve as a chance for revenge for last year's State Tournament loss, and they will need the win for State Seeding purposes possibly as that vote will be tight.
6. Delano (17-4-2)
Past Week Results: W 6-0 Southwest Christian/Richfield, T 3-3 OT Lakeville South
Upcoming Schedule: 2/12 vs Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato, 2/14 vs #7 Northfield
Delano has been a model of steadiness all season, as they had another strong week first wrapping up the #1 seed with a section win over Southwest Christian/Richfield and then skating to a tie with a Lakeville South club that has taken it to them the last few years. The Tigers appear to be locked in and ready for a deep playoff run, and this week they will get one more Top 10 test when they host Norfield before beginning the gauntlet that is going to be the Section 2A playoffs.
7. Northfield (19-2-1)
Past Week Results: W 10-2 Mankato East. T 5-5 Owatonna, W 10-1 Faribault
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 @ Rochester Mayo, 2/12 vs Albert Lea, 2/14 @ #6 Delano
Northfield's steady drumbeat of convincing conference wins over the past two weeks had a bit of a hiccup this week when they had to fight to tie Owatonna, but they were able to come back and take care of business vs Faribault to end the week to stay on track for winning another Big Nine Conference Title and getting the #1 seed in Section 1A. This week’s season finale with Delano is a juicy matchup and gives them a chance to finish in their highest ranking ever and be a potential Top 5 seed at State.
8. Blake (15-7-2)
Past Week Results: W 3-2 #9 Cloquet/Esko/Carlton, W 3-2 OT #20 Mankato West
Upcoming Schedule: 2/12 @ Southwest Christian/Richfield
The Bears made a statement with a big win over Cloquet/Esko/Carlton, flashing some potential and they then got the win over a ranked and underrated Mankato West crew. There have been road bumps this season, but they have the resources to skate with anyone in Class A. Now they will look to stay hot heading into the playoffs as a win over Southwest Christian/Richfield will lock up the #2 seed in what will be a great 2A Sectional.
9. Cloquet/Esko/Carlton (13-11-0)
Past Week Results: L 2-3 #8 Blake, W 6-3 Roseau
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 @ #2 Hibbing/Chisholm
The Lumberjacks stumbled out of the gate against Blake but rebounded well with a win over the Rams and hold on to their spot inside the Top 10. The offensive outburst vs Roseau was nice to see, as the only weakness with this team is what the Bears exposed, as if Cloquet digs an early hole, will they have the firepower to climb out of it? Nonetheless, they get their second shot at Hibbing this week in what is more than likely a preview of the 7A Semi we will see in a few weeks!
10. Breck (16-6-1)
Past Week Results: L 4-5 OT Hopkins, W 4-2 #23 Rochester Lourdes
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 vs Minnesota River, 2/14 @ #25 Dodge County
Breck got the job done against Lourdes to end the week but had a hideous loss to Hopkins to begin the week, which was not on my bingo card for something out of a Top 10 team this season. Still, the Mustangs hang on here as the teams below them move around a bit and piled up weird losses of their own. They close out against two decent Southern Minnesota opponents as they get ready for section play. .
11. Detroit Lakes (15-9-0)
Past Week Results: W 8-1 Crookston, W 3-0 Little Falls, L 1-6 #3 Sartell
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 @ Alexandria
The Lakers started the week strong as they locked up a top 3 seed with a win over 8A Crookston, and they took care of business vs Little Falls. They did, however, struggle to hang with Sartell at the end of the week, showing the gap between them and the elite of Class A and keeping them outside the Top Ten. This is still a team that has played very good hockey down the stretch, and they will look to avenge their worst Minnesota loss of the season this week in a rematch with Alexandria to end the regular season.
12. St Cloud Cathedral (13-10-0)
Past Week Results: W 5-2 River Lakes
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 vs Little Falls, 2/13 @ #5 Mahtomedi
The Crusaders win over River Lakes should lock up the top seed in 5A; while this hasn’t been the flashiest of teams, they have shown they are still the team to beat in this section, going unbeaten in the regular season. They’ve gone (7-3) since the debacle vs St. Cloud Public and have a decent collection of quality results, even if they may not have their normal flair. Now they end the year with a conference game vs Little Falls before finishing with an intriguing one vs Mahtomedi, which could have State Seeding implications.
13. Monticello (16-4-3)
Past Week Results: W 4-0 Northern Edge, W 5-1 Cambridge-Isanti
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 vs Totino-Grace, 2/13 @ Alexandria
The Moose have had another good regular season, but still have issues scoring goals, and that has haunted them in their bigger games of the year. The schedule hasn’t been hard, but to their credit, they have been playing their normal structure-based hockey and have recovered nicely from the upset of Providence a few weeks ago, and they have now won five straight games and locked up the Mississippi 8 Conference title with wins this past week. Now, some stiffer tests as they get ready for their playoff run.
14. International Falls (20-1-2)
Past Week Results: W 5-2 Red Lake Falls, W 15-0 Moose Lake Area, W 7-0 Greenway, W 8-0 North Shore
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 @ North Shore, 2/12 @ Lake of the Woods
The Broncos had a busy week, getting Anthony Yerxa back earlier than expected was a nice surprise and they then collected a couple of Section 7A wins. These aren’t the sorts of opponents that are going to move the needle a ton here, but they have been pretty consistent lately, and they aren’t going to go quietly in sections. A 22-win regular season is in the crosshairs this week which would be their most since 2008.
15. Waseca (17-5-2)
Past Week Results: W 14-0 Windom, W 24-0 Fairmont, W 10-1 Marshall
Upcoming Schedule: 2/12 @ Tartan/North, 2/13 vs #18 Luverne
It’s showtime in Waseca, as the Bluejays have fully shaken off their early season slumber and did some very unspeakable things this week to some conference teams. Now they will look to put an exclamation point on their regular season with a win in the Big South Conference Championship Game that was just added with Luverne. The star power is here, and it may be showing up at the right time as they look to make some program history over the next few weeks.
16. Northern Lakes (12-9-1)
Past Week Results: W 6-4 #17 East Grand Forks
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 @ #3 Sartell, 2/12 @ Becker/Big Lake, 2/14 vs Red Wing
The Lightning stormed back to claim a big comeback win against East Grand Forks, which was their best win of the year. It was needed as this team was on life support of late with losses to #12 Cathedral, #14 International Falls, and #15 Waseca in the last two weeks. They will hope it's the kind of win that can give them a spark as they now have the big Section 6A showdown with a red-hot Sartell team on the road this week.
17. East Grand Forks (9-13-1)
Past Week Results: L 0-6 #4 Warroad, L 4-6 #16 Northern Lakes
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 @ Thief River Falls, 2/12 @ Roseau
The Greenwave have now lost five straight, as they fell to Warroad to begin the week, and the loss to Northern Lakes dumps them down a few spots in the rankings; though the Defending Champs have a few decent pieces, that is not a loss a Top 15 team should be taking. It hasn’t been a great past two weeks, which is concerning, as their two biggest section foes are surging; can they get Jace Panzer back in their final week to reapply some pressure before section time?
18. Luverne (20-3-1)
Past Week Results: T 3-3 OT Minnesota River
Upcoming Schedule: 2/12 vs New Ulm, 2/13 @ #15 Waseca
Roll Cards Roll had a tough outing in their only game of the week as they had to rally to tie a Minnesota River team they handled easily just a few weeks prior. Not the kind of result you want vs a Section team so close to playoff time, but they did not lose and remain unbeaten vs 3A teams to hold off Mankato West for the #1 seed for now. They have a must-win game, though, vs New Ulm this week, for that to hold true before an added game with Waseca for the Big South Conference Title.
19. Chisago Lakes (14-6-3)
Past Week Results: W 7-4 South St Paul, W 4-0 #24 Minneapolis
Upcoming Schedule: 2/9 vs Pine City Area, 2/12 vs #2 Hibbing/Chisholm
The Wildcats restored some credibility this week as they were able to rebound and pick up a Section 4A win over South St Paul that should lock them into the #2 seed. They also picked up a nice road win over an always tough 612 crew. The top end is here to compete with anyone in Class A. They will look to head into the playoffs on a good note now as they have a conference game with Pine City Area before a great test vs one of Class A’s best when the boys from Hibbing come to town to end the week.
20. Mankato West (14-6-2)
Past Week Results: W 5-0 Minnesota River, L 2-3 OT #8 Blake
Upcoming Schedule: 2/10 @ Owatonna, 2/12 @ Apple Valley/Burnville, 2/14 @ Roseville
The Scarlets make their first appearance inside the Top 20 this week as they have been just going about their business and at this point look like a team that is a very serious contender for State out of Section 3A. They took care of Minnesota River to begin the week, which will make them the #1 or #2 seed, and then showed that if they get to the Tourney, they will be a competitive outfit as they gave Top 10 Blake all they could handle. This week, a bunch of mid-range AA teams as they are getting ready to make a playoff push.
Next Five Notable Team
Orono (9-11-3)
Orono continued its rise of late as they picked up two more wins this week and Jackson Knight is on an incredible heater of late as he broke the program record for goals in a career. They were able to win a shootout over New Prague and then had their way with a struggling Chaska as they have now won 4 of their last 5 games. Huge game vs St Louis Park this week with all kinds of Section 2A seeding implications.
Proctor (11-11-1)
The Rails are a young team that is on a bit of a skid following more losses this week to Duluth Marshall and Roseau. While they have suffered all losses of late to decent 7AA & 8AA teams, they still own the best win in Class A over Hermantown and have a head-to-head over Lourdes to hold on this spot for now. They have two winnable games this week as they look to try to recapture some momentum heading into the playoffs.
Rochester Lourdes (14-6-2)
It was a rough week for the Eagles, who dropped out of the Top 20 for the first time this year. They are now (1-5-1) vs. Top 25 teams in Class A. The loss to Dodge County was painful, as that combined with their loss to Waseca earlier this year, who the Wildcats tied, will most likely have the Eagles at the #4 seed now in 1A. They gave Breck a push to end the week, but again, they just don't score many goals. They will look to get healthy here in the last week, as right now they are limping toward the finish line.
Minneapolis (11-12-1)
The 612 Crew had another tough week as they were upset by Providence Academy to start the week, which now puts their seed in serious peril. They then were not that competitive in the shutout loss to Chisago Lakes, but they hung in here at the bottom of the rankings with a win over Dodge County to end the week. They will look to try to finish strong this week with just one game vs Duluth Denfeld.
Dodge County (14-7-1)
The Wildcats won the more important ranked matchup of the two this week when they were able to go on the road and upset Lourdes and while they may have a lower ranking looking at their Section 1A profile they should now be the #3 seed come playoff time. The loss to Minneapolis is a rough one to end the week but they will look to get back in the win column this week as they have a busy one as they prepare to make a playoff run down south.

I really like the St Louis Park being there. I have them as my darkhorse to win 2A. If they beat Orono on Tuesday, they could be the #4 seed and they will be very scary matchup no matter where they land.

Re: A Rankings for 2/8/26
So happy we do Coaches vote in Hockey...Just one of many areas of concern, QRF has Crookston at #27 and Ten Spots lower, they have EGF #37, these teams played in January, and EGF won 7-0... EGF would be like a 6 seed if I am reading this right thats wild... then you got TRF at #41 lower than Crooskton who they swept and Red Lake Falls who they handled easily... QRF seems reward record and not take into account SOS.. Also half the teams records are wrong... Again, glad its a coaches voteBSUBeaver wrote: ↑Tue Feb 10, 2026 4:01 pm Class A QRF as of 2 PM, 02/10/2026

Re: A Rankings for 2/8/26
I think Hibbing should get the #1 seed for 7A. Here is my case:
-Vs common opponents, Hibbing is 12-1-2 and Hermantown is 10-3-2.
-In 7A, Hibbing is 4-1, and Hermantown is 2-1. The Proctor loss is more of a negative than the narrow 2-1 win over Hibbing is a positive, IMO. And I don't think Hermantown should be rewarded for playing fewer 7A games.
-Hibbing is 7-0-1 since the Hermantown game, with wins over Warroad, EGF, Cloquet, Rock Ridge, Bemidji, and Orono. Over that same span, Hermantown has gone 3-4-1 with wins over Mahtomedi and EGF.
-Hermantown went 0-3-1 the last 4 games of the season, including two 6-2 losses. I don't think it should matter that they were AA teams; Hermantown shouldn't be rewarded for playing a ton of AA teams.
-Had the Hermantown win vs Hibbing been convincing, then yes, they are the clear #1, but it was a 2-1 game where the shots were even, and now that 2-1 win is doing a lot of heavy lifting given how poorly the Hawks have performed down the stretch, while Hibbing continues to beat quality opponents.

My Guess is Hermantown #1 they have the same resume as Hibbing and you go to head to head in those cases. Like the whole Miami vs Notre Dame College Football debate.rainier2 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 10, 2026 10:14 pm I think Hibbing should get the #1 seed for 7A. Here is my case:

Regardless Hawks are in trouble with injuries they have key players out and tonight goalie Bryce Francisco left the game with an injury. If is out next week thats the one injury they cant over come.
My prediction for Seeds tomorrow- 1- Hawks, 2- Hibbing, 3- CEC, 4- Proctor, 5- Ifalls, 6- Greenway, 7- North Shore, 8- Ely, 9- Moose Lake
No matter what the coaches churn out it should be a great sectional again. Hope everyone will be healthy!
Re: A Rankings for 2/8/26
They do not have the same resume. Hibbing has a better resume, especially the last 3rd of the season. The computer models will reflect this. Hermantown also has a loss that is far worse than any loss Hibbing has. Will the 1 goal win be enough to overcome these two obstacles? BHS Hockey Class A Final Scores (2/10/26)
#9 Cloquet/Esko/Carlton 1
#2 Hibbing/Chisholm 4
Final
Hibbing gets the Section 7A Season Sweep of Cloquet/Esko/Carlton. The Bluejackets PP was the difference in this one as it allowed them to separate from a tough Jacks team. Rematch next week?
#16 Northern Lakes 2
#3 Sartell 3
Final
Sartell locks up the Section 6A #1 seed by taking down Northern Lakes tonight. The Lightning showed they can play with the Sabres, but came up short tonight. Would love a rematch at the MAC!
#21 Orono tied St Louis Park 4-4 Final/OT.... Spartans tied this game with 7 seconds left, would be a great 2A #4 vs #5 Rematch next week game
#17 EGF tied TRF 5-5 FInal/OT... Panzer played but the Greenwave gave up the lead with 10 second left but still are probably the #2 seed tomorrow
#9 Cloquet/Esko/Carlton 1

We will see what happens tomorrow. Personally, either way won't bother me much can see the argument, and honestly, it won't matter much if the Hawks are not healthy.rainier2 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 10, 2026 11:08 pmThey do not have the same resume. #12 St Cloud Cathedral 3
#5 Mahtomedi 4

Mahtomedi pulls out the win over Cathedral. This was a good game that got very physical in the 3rd period. The Zephyrs pulled it out late, but this would be a fun State QF rematch in St Paul

#15 Waseca 6
Final
Waseca wins the rubber match with Luverne tonight. The Bluejays were able to pull away from the Cards with a big 3rd period to claim the Big South Conference Championship tonight!

#7 Northfield 1
#6 Delano 3
Final
Delano takes down Northfield in a Top 10 Battle. The Tigers and Raiders played a great game, but it was Delano's top line, led by Brady Kangas 2 goals, and the line scored all 3 goals, that was the difference!
#25 Dodge County 5
#10 Breck 7
Final
Breck wins a wild road game over Dodge County. The Mustangs jumped out to a lead, but the Wildcats rallied and made this one close till the very end. Lots of back-and-forth action in this one!
