#2 seed East Grand Forks (11-13-2) comes into this game having taken care of Red Lake Falls in their 8A Quarterfinal win. The Greenwave used their heavy forecheck to overwhelm the Eagles and they got a big game out of their top line of Sr. Tucker Lovejoy, Jr. Jace Panzer & Soph. Cy Hjelmen who all had good games to lead the way. Now the Defending Champs turn their attention to Detroit Lakes, a team that they split with during the year. The Greenwave lost on the road in overtime but one the rematch just a week later on their home ice. Now they will have the rubber match at a neutral site and one of the keys here will be EGF goalie Jr. Noah Schindele who is normally at his best in the postseason and they will look for a great game from him.
#3 Seed Detroit Lakes (16-9-1) enters this game having skated past Bagley/Fosston in the 8A Quarterfinal round. This has been a team that has been on a roll in the second half of the year, as they are now (11-2-1) since their loss at East Grand Forks on 1/2/26. Srs Easton Kennedy, Will Cymbaluk & Carter Whitworth have led the way up front and been great senior leaders all year long. The key to their chances here though will be in the net as Lakers goalie Jr Griffin Lindberg has been excellent in net all year and in both contests vs the Greenwave this year they were heavily outshot and they will need him to be at his best in net as they look to win the rubber match here and breakthrough to their first Section Final Game in over 20 years as the last appearance all the way back in 2001.
