There’s a circle of death going on with the 2-4 seeds though

Delano beat Warroad
Warroad beat Maht
Maht beat Delano

The top 4 all beat SCC.

SCC beat NL.

I wouldn’t be shocked if they just followed the LPH rankings and it went as follows:

1. Hibbing
2. Warroad
3. Mahtomedi
4. Delano
5. SCC
6. Northern Lakes
7. Mankato West
8. Dodge County

Good stuff, bardown, and they very well could just follow the Final Rankings

Reason for a possible change from Final Ranking, just looking at the field
Hibbing is bona fide #1 in Class A.

Delano, Warroad & Mahtomedi each have a win over the other. Delano’s Tie with #1 Hibbing, who both Warroad & Mahtomedi lost to, could give them the edge at #2.

Cathedral gets the #5 over #6 Northern Lakes as they swept them during the year.

Mankato West is ranked at #7 as they were ranked at the end of the year and beat Luverne who beat Dodge County who is at #8 and they were unranked at the end of the year.

I agree with you could go either way.

AA

1 Tonka
2 Moorhead
3 Edina
4 Rosemount

WBL win/Gentry win:
5 WBL/G Rapids
6 G Rapids/Lakeville S
7 Lakeville S/Andover
8 Andover/Gentry

Favorite: Moorhead
Dark Horse: Rosemount
Shocker: Rosemount gets the 3 over Edina. Various metrics have these two teams virtually even. Edina has SOS in its favor. Rosemount has its win over STA in sections in its favor. Also, no one saw Rosemount being the 1 seed in 3AA.

I agree that Delano's tie with Hibbing is what separates them above Warroad and Mahtomedi, and I think their case is fortified by their convincing victory over top ten Blake in the section title game. Warroad hasn't beaten a top ten A team since Dec 12th.

The more I look at it, Dodge County has a great case to be ahead of Mankato West. Beating both ranked Waseca and then top ten Northfield in sections is far more impressive than anything West has done. I'm thinking DC get the #7 seed...

Edina has a win and tie with Minnetonka. I see no way Rosemount is seeded ahead.

Clear top three in some order.
Rosemount
Then the rest. Seeding 1-8 not mattering much. The 6-7-8 are all on good form and eager to play the spoiler.
Be kind. Rewind.

Great point, and West also beat Owatonna, Denfeld & Luverne, who all beat Dodge.

Your point is good; I don't disagree with your thoughts at all. There is a good case there.

Could go a lot of different ways.

Does Gentry win mean Rapids likely plays Rosemount?
Not saying it does or should for that matter.

Andover beat Rapids pretty handily early on this year.
Anyway, I doubt anyone had a possible GR/ Rosemount Thursday game on their radar a week ago. I know I didn’t.

I think it falls that way. As much of a run it’s been, I don’t think LvS, Andover, or Gentry leapfrog over GR. Those three teams weren’t top 20 in the LPH rankings at season’s end. State seeds tend to follow LPH rankings since coaches vote on both.

Grindiangrad, I think you may be in the wrong year. Rapids played Andover on January 10 and beat them 8-4 in a game that wasn't that close. That was their only match-up this year. The way this has fallen, I would not be surprised with GR getting the 5 seed.

You’re probably right Immigrant. I couldn’t remember and checked Maxpreps for that matchup. It says Andover won that game in the 25/26 schedule. My bad.

No worries. I don't think many of us expected a season worth remembering details. Except one player's father with whom I spoke at the Edina Classic. He assured me they would be a much better team by the end of the season compared with what we were seeing at the time. He got that one in the net.

That's Coach Clafton's way. Play the season & tweek as you go. They've come on strong at the end. Worked when he was at Greenway.
