I had 6 and 7 flipped, otherwise how I thought AA would go.

8) Warroad, Mahtomedi, and SCC have to be spitting tacks over Delano at #2. Strength of schedule is night and day.

Per PageStat SOS that Lee updated two weeks ago, Class A SOS rankings are

1. Hermantown
2. Mahtomedi
3. EGF
4. Hibbing
5. Warroad
6. Cloquet
7. Delano
8. Blake
9. Sartell
10. St. Louis Park
11. Orono
12. SCC

So SCC certainly doesn't have an argument over Delano. As for Mahtomedi, I don't know how much credit they should get in A seeding for losing to AA blue bloods like Tonka, STA, and H-M, but the win over Delano is where I'd feel slighted if I were them.

The biggest problem I have with seeding is the reliance on head-to-head matchups to rank over how teams are playing now. A game played in late November is no barometer with what happens now. I would rather take the NCAA’s approach of a NPI-type system.

Think I gotta cheer for Rosemount, Lake So, and Gentry. 8) To hell with your northern mystique.

I'm probably incorrect but why do I recall the #1 vs. #8 being the 6pm game or was that prior to seeding the 6,7,8 teams?

You are correct. First year of this format. Gives #1 seed the benefit of more rest leading into Friday and Saturday.

This year’s tournament has as much intrigue on Thursday in AA as I can remember.

I think the top 4 seeds are spot on and are all obviously favored in their quarterfinal final matchups. Rightfully so they will most likely end up playing on Friday night. But………….

1 seed Minnetonka draws arguably the toughest 8 seed possible in Gentry. While the Skippers could very well cruise in this one it will be worth a watch as it doesn’t feel like Gentry really seems to care about who they play.

2 seed Moorhead vs Lakeville South is similar. Getting one of two pre season consensus dumpster fire section winners isn’t exactly a great reward for the defending champs with how the year played out. Definitely worth a watch.

3 seed Edina gets Andover. Does anyone ever look at the Huskies as an easy game at state? No. Certainly worth a watch.

4 seed Rosemount gets the other pre season consensus dumpster fire section winner in GR. Since I’m a Rapids guy I’ll definitely be watching. 😁

While the top 4 will probably all get it done this year has maybe the best chance ever for all games to be watchable from start to finish. IMHO

I find it interesting the AA schools are recent champions.

2025 Moorhead
2024 Edina
2023 Minnetonka
2022 Andover
2019 Edina
2018 Minnetonka
2017 Grand Rapids
Be kind. Rewind.

That is interesting. Now I can’t decide if it seems more wide open or if it’s a case of the more things change the more they stay the same.

Huh. I find this the least interesting quarterfinal that I can recall. If I were to skip any year, it would be this one. But I won't. it's important to keep the streak alive. And I know I'd have FOMO at work on Thursday.

It could certainly end up that way. I’m just hoping for 4 good games on Thursday. Could end up with 4 not close games.

I hope not though.
