Only the wealthy folks had candles in our area. I used to stand outside and watch through their windows. 😂

Went to the 1961 tourney. Back then they had the Consolation, Third Place and Championship games all in one session. Doug Woog got the 3rd place winner vs Coleraine. Int Falls beat Roseau in Championship games.

Yea black and white.
And yes we looked down our nose at the poor Rapid folk.
And yes not only 3 games in one session but also on TV.
And the Broncos won and would have been five in a row if not ringing one of the post in OT in 1962.

In a ten year period 8 times out of ten it was the Broncos or Roseau.
And one time the Broncos were runner up.
Only one time were neither in the final.
And I believe 3 times those two were in the final.

Ah, let's discuss the Glory Days. Now at that time, were a lot of people pulling for the underdogs agin' the powers? You know, those scrappy metro teams trying to upset Roseau and I'Falls. And were there a lot of complaints along the lines of "Roseau and Falls again??? Same teams, every year, this is boring!"?

I remember people complaining that some parts of the state got to send a team.
But what I remember more was just making it to “region” finals was huge.
Of course with time demographics change and now it’s Edina not Minneapolis southwest, it’s Mahomedoa not So St Paul. Jefferson not what it used to be.
But one thing stays the same, Minnesota boys can play hockey.

Has anyone done the "best job recruiting" for this years teams?

Criteria can be the kid did not play on the towns Bantam team (Moved in after Bantams)...or switched from a public high school to a private one during their high school career.

Without knowing, I'm guessing

Tonka 1st
Moorhead 2nd and
Warroad 3rd

Also which school recruited the hardest this past year and DID NOT make the tourney

Popcorn and a coke $18
Bottled water $7 and then they want a tip.
They make a fortune on Maui Wowies. Never had one. I'm a malt guy and now Snuffies is gone too.

I just do coffee and eat before and do Cossettas in between if it isn't full. Yesterday there must have been hundreds going there so walked a mile to some obscure burger place.

We make a reservation in January at Herbies and get a steak between Thursday sessions.
