Re: 2/14 Games
Two good games in Alexandria.

Anyone of the 4 could be the rep for Setion 8 at state.

Of course, I am cheering for Burrmidji.
But Sartell looks good, at least on paper, I have not seen them play.

Elk River has to be the favorite in the other one, but Moorhead has some players.

Bemidji - Sartell
0 - 0 after one period.
SOG 12(?) Bemidji
Sartell 1

Second period - Bemidji ALMOST scores on the powerplay.
Mattie Haroldson(?) playing well in goal for Sartell.

NP-NU 1A semi
This game was at 6 p.m., not 8:15.

It was 2-1 NP after one, but ended with a 10-2 NP win.
NP faces Albert Lea or Austin Thursday on the Don Roberts Rink at Lund Center, Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minnesota.

Re: NP-NU 1A semi
Austin beat Albert Lea 7-1 or 7-2

Here's an upset in 2A. Star Tribune's website says Hutchinson beat Alex 4-1.

Added at 2:30 a.m.......I'd be really upset if I were from Alexandria, because the Star Trib website still has Hutch beating Alex, but MSHSl web site says Alex won. Reading closer, the Strib says Abby Williams scored for Hutchinson........If memory serves me right, she plays for Alex.

So I'm assuming Alex actually won the game.

Strib's preps coverage is really suffering this year.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckeydad at: 2/15/06 2:28 am

Alex vs. Hutch and 2A
Alex won 4-1.
Abby Williams got the first 3.
Shots were really overpowering; something like 50-15.
Alex was really swarming.
Totino was ahead 3-0 when we left after the second.

Star Trib
The paper today says in the notes that Hutch won, but they did get the box score right. This seems to happen on a semi-regular basis with that paper. I know at least two or our scores have been reversed this year. Is it really that tough to get the scores right? They have never seemed to have this many mistakes in the past, I wonder what's going on over there?

Re: Star Trib
Interesting to say the least isn't it. One big problem that we have is that there are too many score reporting entities embraced by different groups of teams/coaches.

Some of this was addressed in the Fall at the Coaches Assn meeting I hear when the Star Trib's SportsHuddle was adopted as the official score reporting entity.

The issue with this is that outstate coaches can enter their stats there, but their local papers/media won't typically go there to obtain info. Maybe would go to AP or MSHSL, but not to a competitor's site I can't imagine unless they fall under the same parent media company (which is the case for some of our papers in the state)...

What is really needed is a independent central clearinghouse (like AP) that all teams embrace as the score reporting location. Teams could enter their complete boxscores in such a place, and then other entities could access this to upload that data for their media uses (newspapers, websites, etc.).

Also would be nice to have complete boxscore utilities available (SportsHuddle & MSHSL don't have this capability) if anyone wished to utilize them and if so wouldn't have to call scores in as just make all entities aware that the info. is posted on a certain central clearinghouse site...

This would save a tremendous amount of duplication work for the coaches/teams, serve as a central point for dissemination of accurate information, and be what's best.

I wonder if such an opportunity could be embraced if it presented itself? Sometimes these things are fought as change is not always welcome, while often best...

If we want accuracy, we have to drive the process.
