Memory Lane Series on YHH

Post by Joe2015 »

I'm doing a series of articles for Youth Hockey Hub called "Memory Lane" about different moments in Minnesota hockey history. The first is a look at Herb Brooks' forgotten Olympics:

Please let me know what you think: I have four written (I think one will come out each week) and would like to know if it's worth continuing with the series. Two of the four will be related to high school hockey.

The story of the coach of that Jefferson Girls team's fall from grace would make a fascinating story also.

Interesting note on the back door article-

Rapids made its first ever trip to state as the Region 3 winner in 1972. Their reward? A quarterfinal matchup with an undefeated, returning state champ, Edina team.

An up and coming GR team was able to get a win in that game that was actually the coming out party for a program that would go on to many years of success. That success continues today.

In my opinion, that was the most important win, in GR history.

Who won the state championship in 1972?
