If you want I can forward something to the Girls' Coaches Assn. that you are looking for a goalie coach. Also something could be posted on the MN Hockey site under their coaching openings and/or under the MSHSL site as well.

Carroll Goalie School

Post by ghshockeyfan »

I forgot to post this about what I believe to be the best Goalie School in the area. I believe they are the only program to offer a fall session just for girls high school goalies. I think it's a 3 day, 6 hour session Oct. 22-24 at Richfield, the weekend before the season starts.

Check out the web site at: www.carrollgs.com

Galbraith, Hanly, and Carroll all do a great job - and Galbraith has been a goalie coach for some teams I've worked with at the HS and College levels.

I just wanted share my thoughts.
I have had 2 sons go thru Mr Carroll's school.
I have also sent my kids to the Stauber school. There is no question Carroll's is by far the best. He is realistic, teaches good sound techniques, and my kids can't wait to go back.
While I appreciate Mr Stauber's help and his staffs efforts, it does not compare to the CGS

Greetings:

The staff of the Steve Carroll Goalie School would like to congratulate our former students who have been selected as finalists for the Let’s Play Hockey “Goalie of the Year Award” and will be participating in his weekend’s Minnesota State High School League Girls State Hockey Tournament. It’s great to see the girls rewarded for all their hard work!

I also want to let you know that we have finalized plans for our 2005 goalie school. We will offer a three-day training session for girls high school goalies in October at Richfield Arena. The session is scheduled for the weekend right before the 2005-06 season starts.

“The session has been extremely popular,” said Carroll, former All-American goalie who has personally coached hundreds of goalies since opening his school in 1995. “It provides the girls an ideal opportunity to sharpen their skills and build their confidence before they start the high school season.”

From goalie-specific skating techniques/movements, to proper stance, gloves/stick saves, angle play, recovery to ready position, and defending breakaways, our innovative program helps goalies of all levels improve their fundamental skills and boost their confidence in a challenging and enthusiastic environment.

“We always focus fundamental skill development at our school,” said Carroll. “Our training curriculum is carefully designed so the girls who have chosen to play this important position receive the personalized attention and state-of-the-art instruction they need to maximize development.”

The coaching staff features girls’ hockey pioneer and former Burnsville girls coach Jen Hanley and Kevin Galbraith, who led his boys team to a Minnesota State High School championship.

For information about the Steve Carroll Goalie School, visit www.carrollgs.com, or call (612) 869-2719.

I would also like to add Steve Guider's name to the list here. I have heard that his summer goalie training program is terrific and he is also credited with developing and coaching some recent D-1 goalies (Katy Beaudy, Jody Horak, Kim Hanlon) and potential future D-1 prospect (Ashley Nixon) all of which are from the Blaine program. I believe he is also pretty respected.

I don't know but I can certainly check if you would like. I was under the impression that he was not involved last year with the program, but I could be wrong (it wouldn't be the first time).
