It is silly now that I just peaked at it! Look at teams 15-20, many of them are top 10 I am sure... Time will tell.

GHS,

If you can send me the scores in the USHSHO format, I will run my rankings against them and post them to USHSHO.com.

For supplying the scores in my format, I would put a link to your site on the main page of USHSHO and on the MN girls scores and rankings pages there.

I think that you would find that rankings like mine and Pagestat that consider goal differential do a better job of ordering the teams and do it sooner than KRACH, which is more easily tripped up by insular schedules and teams with perfect or perfectly imperfect records.

KRACH is the best ranking system that does not consider goal differential for college hockey but e.g. it really had much more trouble than goal differential based rankings with the MAAC (now Atlantic Hockey) teams in the first couple of years because very few teams from outside the MAAC played them.

FWIW, I did try KRACH for high school hockey five or six years ago and was unsatisfied with the results.

Did you test your pre-seeding KRACH rankings against the coaches' sectional seedings last year? If so, how did they do?

Anyway, just wanted to say that my offer from earlier in the fall to do a girls ranking if supplied the scores in my format still stands.

Mitch Hawker

I can be reached at ushshockey@yahoo.com

For whatever reason, my e-mail did not reach you. Can anyone explain these rankings? What is the criteria? I agree with top 5, except EP is clear cut #1 and SSP should be #2. But a couple of real head scratchers. Yes, Wayzata has 4 losses but they have played a monster schedule and 2 of those losses are against the clear cut best 2 teams in state, by a total of 2 goals! Its ridiculous that they have 20 teams ahead of them.

Almost as ridiculous is Farmington ranked in top 10???!!! They were completely destroyed by the only great team they played and have beaten no above avg teams. They beat 2 so-so teams (MTKA,Woodbury), 3 poor teams (Simley, Northfield,Prior Lake) and 2 terrible teams (Albert Leab and JM). I thought SOS was to be a significant element here? They are very average when not beating up on the poor teams they have played.

Roch Mayo/Lourdes

Number 1 in SOS! ...for now, anyway. After the Big 9 schedule, it'll drop off. Still, yet to come is Blake, Warroad and a couple more in the Schwan tourney. Coach Gamble has done a great job lining up challenging opponents.

Wow, what an outstanding schedule! I give your team and coach a lot of credit. No one can dispute that during SSP's unprecedented run the in the 2001-2004 that they played easily the most difficult schedule in the state. That fact made their 86 game unbeaten streak all the more astounding. But, I think it also helped make them as great as they were also. There is no question this vigorous schedule will help Mayo come tourney time!!!

I really like Mayo's approach and I would compare what your doing vs what i view as a totally backwards approach in a team like Farmington. While Farmington did play SSP, the majority of their nonconf is very weak. They scheduled nonconf creampuffs like Roch Century, Albert Lea, Simley, Red Wing, etc. Meanwhile your team is playing Hibbing,SSP, EP, Warroad, The Schwan and Blake. Impressive. It will pay off in the end with you having a well coached, disciplined and hard working team and having played a tough schedule. Good luck.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckeygal at: 12/11/05 7:10 pm
