Ms. Hockey 2007
Lots of "pre-season" speculation...

Also curious who people think would be a top 5 D (if we awarded a "Ms. D" award (awarded to the best D that plays the D position well (i.e. takes care of the D responsibilities first), in addition to any other strong attributes))...

I've talked about the notion of top 10/then top 5 Ms. D, Ms. G, And Ms. F and then picking a Ms. Hockey out of the final 3 winners of the D/F/G award before... I think this would be best, as many would argue D don't get recognized enough, and also that D & G should be able to be called "Ms. Hockey" - not just F's (or D from time-to-time)...

I would say that this list below is the starting point for narrowing the list... REMEMBER THAT T-Breds AND SSM PLAYERS AREN'T ELIGIBLE...

Other related info. about this class:
<a href="http://p100.ezboard.com/fmnhsfrm7.showM ...

D:
ASHLEY BLISKOWSKI
KAYLA CHILSTROM
ANNE DRONEN
KRISTI ELLIS
KATIE HOERNER
JOCEY KLEIBER
COLLEEN KROMPOTICH
ASHLAN LAMBERT
MEGHAN LANGE
KELLY LEWIS
ANNA MCNALLY
ALEXA NELSON
SANDY NELSON
ELSA PERUSHEK
KIRSTIN PETERSON
SHANNON REILLY
RITA SIMONES
TAI STEPHAN
AMY UDVIG
MONTANA VICHOREK
AMALEE WINDMEIER
SARAH YUNGNER
LAUREN ZUREK

F:
ALECIA ANDERSON
ANNE BAUERFELD
ERIN BENNEK
KATHERINE CHUTE
ERIN CODY
ALI HARWOOD
BRITANY HARTMAN
ERIN JOHNSON
JENNA KILPATRICK
KEETA KOALSKA
MEGHAN LORENZ
LAURA MAY
MICHAELA MICHAELSON
SYDNEY O'KEEFE
KATIE PSIMOS
TERRA RASMUSSEN
MARIA STOA
AMANDA TRUNZO

G:
RACHEL BOWENS-RUBIN
KRISTIN ELLIOT
MELISSA GERTEN
ERIN MCNAMARA
ASHLEY NIXON
SAVANNAH OSBORNE
PAIGE THUNDER
LIZ WESTBERG

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckeyfan at: 2/26/06 10:21 pm

Kilpatrick has a primo opportunity in '07 to:

1) help win state A title for New Prague
2) state point total leader
3) Ms. Hockey

She currently is #9 all-time point total leader with about 400 pts.
"Dream as if you'll live forever; Live as if you'll die today." --James Dean

I believe Cassie Carpenter is Class of 2008 (and an outstanding goalie)!!

This was included in the St Paul paper. Many have questioned what the are the ctiteria for judging MS Hockey. Here they are...

The award, sponsored by Let's Play Hockey newspaper and selected by a panel of area college coaches, is based on academics, community service, extracurricular activities, citizenship, coachability and on-ice performance.

Re: Ms. Hockey 2007
The part I call into question is what we term "extracurricular activities." And, if meant in the way this could be (jokingly), I know I've asked what people think as far as players with MSHSL violations, etc. and how this should or shouldn't be factored in to the selection process of this award - and others... Or maybe this concern falls under the "citizenship" header?

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckeyfan at: 2/26/06 10:21 pm

All Walser Girls?
You are kidding right with your list? Gee they are not all the Walser girls are they? You know there are other great players out there that don't play for Walser, for obvious reasons. This is so political it's a joke.

Who Would You Add?
hockeyparent1, Name the players that you would like to see added to the list. ghshockeyfan provided a list as a starting point. It is natural that he would tend to name players with whom he is most familiar. Others, like you, need to supply any he may have omitted.

Re: Ms. Hockey 2007
ghs,

i think someone wants you to include in your list the girls that were not good enough to make the walser team and the girls that got replaced by kids that were "recruited" as her daughter is obviously one of them.

Re: Ms. Hockey 2007
For the record, ghs list does not contain that many Walser girls.

Re: Ms. Hockey 2007
FWIW - it just may be coincidence that some are Walser kids. Many have/had been at one point in time, not all are currently to my knowledge. Keep in mind that I'm no longer involved with off-season AAA (yet anyway)...

What I really want to see is a G HS Elite League starting this Fall. That might be something that I really try to help with, and would like to see a Tier1 & T2...

Re: Ms. Hockey 2007
The players in GHS's list are all top players. He probably sees more girls games than anyone on this board.

oh my goodness!
hockeyparent1,
i have read many posts on this site and you're name has been on a lot, and the only thing that you post is negitive comments! you whine more than any teenage girl that i know. it is beyond ridiculous and i can't believe that you still have the nerve to post your incredibally IMMATURE opinion. you are worse than oscar the grouch. reality check: there are SOME good things going on in girls hockey, maybe you should spend more time voicing your CONSTRUCTIVE opinion than waste a whole lot of time sounding no older than a 5 year old brat. and this is me telling you as nice as i can. now you know that its bad when you, a grown parent/adult, is hearing this from a HIGH SCHOOL girl.

hockeyparent1,

The purpose of this thread was to list Ms. Hockey candidates for next year. Please add to it if you feel girls are missing instead of complaining about ommissions.

Re: Where's the positive?
See you can't obviously think of positive in hockey or you would have answered. You proved my point Thanks hockey112233

Re: Where's the positive?
I see a lot of positives in this Junior Class alone. Who else has been missed from the list above?

You just don't get it
You just don't get the politics in hockey or maybe you choose to turn the other way. It is frustrating as a parent that has a very talented girl, but do to politics and who you know, and not playing the game, she gets screwed. I refuse to play the game, because I believe that a girl should make it on her own, if she has what it takes. But that's not hockey and it's not fair. Why can't hockey be like other sports?

Re: You just don't get it
Politics is an issue for all sports, perhaps less so when it is an idividual sport such as golf where nobody can debate the fact that player A shoots a better score than player B.

Re: You just don't get it
hockeyparent - send me an email and let me know what I can do to help your kid get the opportunities that her talent warrants. I'll do everything in my power to see that she gets these opportunities, tryouts, looks, etc. There is nothing political in this offer, I just hate to see kids get missed, passed up, not seen, etc. - and it rarely happens, but let me know...

ghshockeyfan@hotmail.com

I can also suggest some opportunities that may help with her development or can recommend her to others that may be looking for players for off-season events, etc.

jenna kilpatrick
i think jenna kilpatrick is a joke. the only reason she has any points is because she parks out in front of the net and waits for people to feed her the puck. i have seen her play many times and new prague will be off sides just so she can have the puck like shes some god or something. i think kc ambroz deserves the credit from the new prague team because she is more of a team player than any other person on new prague.

Re: jenna kilpatrick
It's hard for me to think of anyone with 400 pts as a jr as a joke! I will say that it is possible that she may not have scored as many points if she played in a different conference, etc., but that should take nothing away from her. She is a great player. Many argue that she is the Ms. Hockey frontruner for 2007 for this reason. It is posible that she will become as high as #2 on the all-time scoring list next year, but it will be tough to get to #1 as I believe that would entail a 125+ pt season, which is no small task no matter where you play.
