Vikings sign Smoot

Post by BabyBlueFan4Life »

According to the Vikings website they have agreed to terms with free agent cornerback Fred Smoot. He will be a great addition to the defense, as well as Pat Williams.

Lets hope that he continues this generousity and bring in Plaxico Burress aka Plexiglass aka Mini Moss. Great move for the Vikes. How long and how much is the contract?

6 years!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"> This defense is rapidly improving with the addtions of Smoot, Williams, and Harris. Just add in a safety like Donovan Darius or draft one like Thomas Davis or Antrel Rolle, and maybe one more DE or LB like Derrick Johnson or Shawne Merriman, and this D could be top 10 to go with a top 10 O.

Good luck getting Derrick Johnson, but that would be sweet. I hope we get Rolle or Edwards or Williams with our first pick, then take a safety with the second 1st rounder. I hope they don't give that pick up to get Darius. If they can only give up a 2nd rounder and a player, I say go for it, but don't give up a 1st rounder for him. Keep the signing's coming Red!
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Donovan Darius

Post by koren808 »

What did T.O and Corey Dillon have in common besides the fact that they both made the Super Bowl with there new teams? They were both traded straight up for 2nd round picks. Does J'ville seriously think that Darius is more valuable than T.O. and Dillon? Loosen up your demands a little bit, J'ville.

Great news just piled in for the Vikes yesterday. Wiggins signed for 5 more years, and Tice is in trouble with the NFL for scalping tickets at the Super Bowl. Hopefully this leads to him getting fired.

Give him one more year. New ownership comes in, kicks all the crap out and the team will start winning. If they were smart, they'd let me be coach/GM <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

GM we are fine- we are among the best in bringing in talent, especially during the draft, partly due to Chavous, the players version of Mel Kiper except hes actually well respected.

Coach- I just have a personal experience that makes me not like Tice. In 7th grade our team played Tice's son's team, and Tice coached it. Our team that year was amazing. For instance, our TE was now 6-10 basketball stud sophomore Cole Aldrich. Anyways, our team was up 46-8 entering the 4th quarter. One of my teammates, a monster player back in these days, injured about 4 or 5 different Edina kids, including Tice's son twice, all on clean hits. The second time that Tice's kid, who was their QB, got hurt, the WR he was throwing to got hurt on a heavy hit by me. After the play, Tice took his team off the field, went to our coach (the dad of the kid who hurt Tice's son) and called our team "cheap" and "too physical", and then complained about us to the Bloomington Athletic Association. Then, Tice's wife started screaming at our coaches' wife about how cheap her son was. Our coaches' wife just stared at her and said, "You're just angry because my son kicked your son's @ss."<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> But ever since that game, I've lost respect for Tice.

Quote:
If they were smart, they'd let me be coach/GM

ER as the Vikings coach<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Just give me the title of GM, me & Corey can talk and watch film together.

Your story is just further proof that I should be coach. I never would have let my team play in the 4th quarter against a cheap team like Bloomington... <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Sign Burress, trade for Darius, sign Sharper, draft Derrick Johnson or a defensive end with the 7th pick, draft Cody with the 18th pick.

Man, I wish they wouldn't have lost Pierce.

A rumor is that the Vikes are considering giving up the 7th pick for Darius. I don't think this would be a smart move. I would rather get a talented defensive player with the 7th pick, and maybe try to get Darius by trading the 18th pick. As Koren said, last year Corey Dillon and Terrell Owens were traded for 2nd round picks, and Darius is not more valuable than either of these players, so I think we should be weary of giving up too much.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... an4Life at: 3/11/05 3:11 pm

The Vikes got one of their targets: Darren Sharper signs for 4 years.

sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2011382

This secondary is turning into one of the best in the NFL!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

And reading the article makes it sounds like they are gonna get Plax too:

Quote:
Minnesota officials might now turn their attention, however, to offense. Alright good! Hopefully now they won't be stupid and trade for Darius. Put Chavous at FS, Sharper at SS, Winfield & Smoot each at CB, Williams at Nickel. I don't know who has a better secondary than us...

And than like I said earlier, get WR Williams, WR Edwards or LB Johnson @ 7, then DE Pollack, DE James, DE Roth or WR Williamson at 18. Then get another D lineman or a S like Nicholson in the 2nd round. They are really impressing me this offseason, where has this been the last 4 years?
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Vikes

Post by LloydBraun »

The secondary is fine, with chavous, sharper, smoot, winfield, linebackers thomas, henderson, claiborne or nattiel, D line will be good....Now the vikings need to concentrate on filling in the hole of randy moss. The past two years the vikes have had terrible drafts, they really need to have a good one this year. I'd say sign plaxico or gardner in free agencie and draft Mike William.

Kevin Williams sucks really bad! Kenechi Udeze will only get worse. Nate Burleson was a tragic pick, he can't catch. Onterrio Smith wasn't the Steal of the Draft, he was the Bust of the Draft especially when we got him in the 4th round. E.J. Henderson, Mike Nattiel & Dontarrious Thomas (Three guys you named as possible starters) were total reaches and they will never amount to anything. Darrion Scott can't play for any team in the league and was worthless. Nat Dorsey is just a big fat guy that can't block. Mewelde Moore doesn't even know how to be a RB and will never rush for 100 yds in an NFL game.

Are you catching on yet? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> When you know what you are talking about, come back. 2 more signings: Travis Taylor, the ex-Ravens WR, and former Viking QB Brad Johnson. Looks like Plax isn't gonna be coming up to Minnesota this year. Also looks more likely to draft Mike Williams or Braylon Edwards.
