After year off, NHL draft will be a Wild one

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim are on the clock
.
Shortly after 11:00 am on Saturday, July 30th, new Ducks GM, Brian Burke, and his staff will present NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman the name of the player whom they have selected to become the first choice in the 2005 NHL draft. Confused? You thought Mario Lemieux's Pittsburgh Penguins had won the first pick in the draft? Wrong! The prize Pens GM Craig Patrick left Manhattan with was less a pick than it was a mandate.

The only sure things in this world are death, taxes, the Canucks getting upset in the playoffs, and Sidney Crosby. His 120 goals and 183 assists in 121 games over two seasons with the Quebec Major Junior League's Rimouski Oceanic were cause for Wayne Gretzky to predict that the 5-foot-11, 193-pound center would break all of his records.

<a href="http://www.mnsportscentral.com/content/ ...

Very true, but for the record, Gretzky actually predicted that Crosby would eventually break his scoring records when Crosby was just 14 years old, before he even came to Shattuck St. Mary's.

I think I speak for all hockey fans when I say how excited I am to finally see this kid play...

Crosby

If Sidney Crosby goes to the Ducks it will not benefit the NHL nearly as much as if he were to go to places such as here or New York. If I recall right when the Wild and the Ducks were playing in the conference finals Anahiems arena wasnt even filled out. Hopefully something turns around.
