Moving to Fargo/Moorhead

Post by MajinHockey »

Well, it would seem that I must officially add the Spuds to my list of favorite teams, as me and the fam will be relocating to the Fargo/Moorhead area for work. Anybody know a good realtor out there? Oh, and, anybody wanna buy a nice house in Cloquet?

Majin

I'd recommend Lyn Dwyer from Park Company Realtors.

Look at the bright side. At least you don't have to move to Elk River!

Yes because then you would need to find a good chiropractor as well to help your neck pain because you will be staring at the Championship Banner that Moorhead doesn't have to worry about.
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

Get used to seeing red, all those 2nd place banners must make the place look like a holdout from the old USSR.

At least he'll be able to watch a hockey team that is a perennial contender for a state title. Yes, they have taken it on the chin 6 times in the title game and no championships, but you can't say Elk River is a legitimate threat to win it year in and year out.

The Spuds have provided some of the most entertaining championship games in recent memory (Holy Angels, Centennial, Duluth East). What does Elk River do besides that one lonely state title? They lose in the first round to Tartan. Tartan?? Neither team deserved to be in the tournament, honestly.

Seriously, Elk River scared nobody going into the state tourney this past year. Everybody knew they didn't belong.

You want to compare Tartan and the Spuds to their games against Holy Angels? Everybody knows Holy Angels didn't play well against Tartan and they played a great game against the Spuds. I thought you knew hockey? Oh, never mind. Just another fan who's blinded by his faith.

Yeah, good luck getting out of section 7 in the years to come. I'll enjoy seeing the Elks fall in the sections to Duluth East each year now. I hope you enjoyed watching the Elks in the tourney this past March because it'll be a long time before they get back there.

I just wish the MSHSL would've put Elk River back in section 8 so I could watch the Spuds take out your team in the sections each year. It's not fair the East fans will get to have that much pleasure every year.

Haven't heard that much smack run this long before the season actually starts since.....last year when the Rapids and Jacks fans were woofing at each other.
Quote:
Oh, never mind. Just another fan who's blinded by his faith.

Blinded? The only thing blinding me is the gleam from the Championship Trophy. Moorhead is blinded every year by the false hope of a championship coming back to their town. You've had some of the best teams the state of MN has seen in the past 13 years and have nothing to show for it. Once they win it all, I'll give them all the respect they deserve and then some. Kinda like WBL going into the Tourney every year , its useless to get your hopes up. You can talk about last year all you want, yea we got beat. But if you want to talk about the past you know what I'm gonna say. As far as this year & section 7, it'll be interesting. It's nice to have a little competition instead of a cakewalk like Section 8 has been. (Yes, Moorhead has had some dominating teams, but they have also had a couple semi-weak ones come out of there too.) I'll look forward to seeing the Elks & Spuds play in the State Tourney again this year
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

True, but on a Friday in the summertime, Chicago doesnt have the traffic problems Elk River does.

By the way, I was up there last weekend. Found a really good resturant right on the highway(either 101 or 169)..forget the name of it but it was very good.

So, your spirited discussion raises the age old question. Would you rather be a fan of a team that consistently contends but cant seem to win one or one that wins a championship. Forget Elk River for a minute.

How about:

Moorhead vs Blaine

Boston Red Sox (Until last year) vs Twins

Vikings vs Chiefs

You are correct on the traffic in ER at night issue, but I already offered my "secret" way around it. You don't go through Elk River until 9pm. There's no traffic then

What kind of food was the restaurant and how "upscale" was it? (We don't have that many restaurants in ER that aren't chain type.)

And for your question, it depends on the sport and where I lived. If I lived in Moorhead, no doubt I'd be a diehard Spud fan. I'm a Viking fan to the bone even though they never win it all.
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

It was your standard stuff. Meat and fish. Looked relatively new. Pretty big bar area. On the west side of the road..black sign. Again, very good.

Price was medium to up. $12.00 for the Yankee Pot roast and $21 for the "field and stream".

Blackwoods in Otsego? Sounds like their type of stuff and if it indeed was them, very good choice.
Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls

We've settled into an apartment in Fargo, put an offer on a house in Moorhead, and close on our house in Cloquet next thursday. It's been a busy summer. Driving back and forth to Cloquet every weekend is crap-ola by the way. However, things are looking up. The house in Moorhead is just a mile or so down the road from the high school (do they play there?), and is on a quiet cul-de-sac. Man alive are the property taxes high in Fargo or what?!

Majin

P.S. This will be the year that Cloquet goes to state. The thunderchickens can bite me, East will have to forfeit their entire season for recruiting a prodigy from Belize, and Elk River will get lost trying to find Brainerd in their first round game because some great wit in Elk River will spell it B-R-A-I-N-A-R-D and they won't find it on the map. I see a Cambridge/Cloquet final, possibly quad-overtime.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... nHockey at: 7/23/05 3:33 pm
