Threads have a theme. Slappy established a theme and I join in attempting to add stuff while working the theme for all it is worth in good fun. It is kind of like going to a toga party. I would show up in a toga. You would show up (assuming you were invited) in normal clothes and find some new college boy word that you just learned to describe those that showed up in togas. You will have a lot of opportunities in your life to keep your mouth shut. I suggest you take advatage of each and every one of them until you develop the maturity , dignity and the sense of respest for others to match your ATC score.

Add me to the AA Right Wing Supremists. This topic was good when it started out, but it has turned into banter among 3-4 individuals. I believe the topic would die if those involved would not respond to their own comments, which has happened too often. Time to move on to the final stretch of the high school season. Moorhead and Warroad are favored to win, and teams that can play the spoiler will be trying to figure out ways to stop these two top ranked teams. As is always in playoffs, good(outstanding) goal tending can derail the favorites. Anyone have an inside view of who that "hot" goalie can be?

Hey Rusty, Why don't you start a thread that will not bore us then? And petey, you're one to talk about using the ratings to support your point of view. Why don't you check out your 1st few posts on the WDC thread? Joe's a lot of fun as are 99 percent of the posters I've rubbed elbows with. Including you petey, but I no sooner began my very first Topic on this forum after the Catholics took the cake and you were right there to quash what turned out to be a very entertaining topic that folks on the street all the way to the Excel still approach me to discuss. There's a lot of folks out there that read this stuff and have no problem with the bulk of the content. There are those who don't. But they all read it and most have a smile on their face and an extended hand to shake, whenever I have had the pleasure to meet some of them. What bothers me, is that you can have a ball with tons of folks or sometimes just a few and still, there are always the small minority of folks who don't understand and because they don't, feel the need to criticize those that do, and then complain to whatever authority doing the squeeky wheel thing with a desire to censor ( for lack of a better word ) that good time. You should go with me and Video Scout to a game sometime and then to mingle with other fans, coach's, etc. so I could show you what I mean. On the days when there are no games things can get rather dull around here so some of us deploy our imaginations to fill the air so to speak and sometimes in that way get to know each other and fortunately, if we are lucky become friends. This is what has occured between Joe and I and if we are ever lucky enough to meet in person I have no doubt that we would be friends. SS, There is no doubt that we would be friends. Humor is an ingredient to every lasting friendship I have ever had. It also helps out a marriage once in a while. This thread is not boring. It has and continues to be timely ,substantive and funny. If we take the time to read between the lines of some of the sillyness and good natured needdling, we see (if we want to )a whole new dimension to what should be an ongoing discussion of the 2 class system. Tired old responses like "Lets make the privates play AA" I dont think are going to get it done. Not with programs like Warroad and SLP performing the way that they have. Not with this system based soley on enrollmnet but not really because there are some exceptions, if you are good and want to play at another class. Clusterbomb. I dont know what slappy had in mind when he started this thread (other than to have some fun) but I do know that it is anything but boring and has certainly made me laugh and think. Rusty, Ok, but what about radical? You didnt admit to that.

I was asked to provide grounds for the parroting comment, and I feel pretty confident that I did that. As for the PageStat2 ratings, they are a good system, but no system can be perfect. The example of Moorhead beating Warroad and them being 2-1 in the rankings is a perfect example of that. The only reason I used them in the Wadena thread is that none of those teams are ranked in the top 20 of anything, so the only way to compare them is to use rankings that have all the teams. Sometimes, that's just what you have to do, even if I do it through clenched teeth. As for the toga party, not everybody has to show up and see how much fun Bluto is having and just decide instead of being themselves to just be like Bluto. That would just result in a large number of hilariously smashed guitars.

Slappy and Joe, you're both taking the blind lead that the "grain" is wrong. How inncorrect you both are. First; since according to the MSHSL, St. Louis Park is the 53rd biggest high school, by enrollment, that plays hockey, they will have to be thrown out of the argument all together. Second, using only the top 64 schools based on enrollment, I will show where exactly these A teams fair against the big boys Using Let's Play Hockey top 10 A teams and Page2stats total rankings, I will show you how right the "grain" actually is. #1 Warroad is 4-2 against AA schools, not bad on the surface, but lets look at the facts. Warroad is 0-2 against teams in the top 25. Their wins have come against #28 Osseo, #29 Eastview, #44 Armstrong, and #50 Bemidji. An average ranking of #38. #2 Breck 3-0-1, A ray of light as they have the only quality win of ANY class A team over an AA school, a win over #11 St. Cloud Tech, plus wins over #40 Chaska and #65 Cretin. A tie againgst Eastview as well. #4 Blake 2-0, wins over #65 Cretin and #74 Owatonna, I wouldn't be bragging them up with that kind of schedule. #5 Orono 2-1, wins over #51 Coon Rapids and #92 Irondale, they lost to #37 Anoka. See Blake for comparison. #6 BSM 4-2-1, Quality losses to Moorhead and Tech, but their best win was against #35 Maple Grove #7 SSP 7-1-1, Decent wins against #26 Tartan and #36 Eagan, but no on else ranks above #61. Lost to # 54 Woodbury, tied #82 NSP. #8 LOW 2-1, beat a decent Osseo team but lost to Bemidji #9 Totino Grace 5-3, best win against #32 Roseville, also beat Cretin, #92 Irondale, #108 Buffalo, and #153 Monticello. Lost to #23 JM, Eastview and Coon Rapids #10 EGF 0-1-1 lost to Armstrong and tied Bemidji. Facts are Facts, the top 10 Class A teams are 1-5 against the top 25 AA teams, 12-10-3 against the top 50. (which is more than half the AA field) Hey, I like the fact that there is a 2 class system, but the numbers and the games don't lie, even the top A teams are not on par with the top AA teams. You can spit out the any given night theory all you want, but on the given nights in question AA has dominated. Lenin, Stalin and Mao went against the grain as well, good thoughts, but much like yours Slappy, they were wrong. I did agree with the parrotting act, and I also said that it was too bad since he has so many great points, I have read them, I brought that up as well, and I have said so many times. I just was getting tired of the act, it served no purpose other than to keep a dying thread at the top. I admit I bit. You have rarely complimented me, nor would I expect you to, that is alright, that is what civilized discourse is all about. When I support someone or a position, I don't parrott, I don't say, "yea, what he said" rather I try to find facts or interpretations to support my position. I enjoy digging through all of the marvelous information here and on linked sites, it is a great resourse, not to mention so much information is so readily available. However you fight facts, largly with BS, tounge in cheek I realize. When someone professes an opinion contrary to whatever yours is, you fight back with name calling and whatever else, Petey, scheids, myself, et. al. can attest to it. Bty the way nice attack on hockeymom, what was that all about? Whatever your original idea was on this thread then has been lost on me, since you stated "class A hockey produces some of the finest if not the finest teams in Minnesota". All I have done is try to show why that, in general, is not the case. A debatable opinion, but why do you have to jump into the name calling and stuff when, you can and have put up some very good agruments as to why you think the tournaments should be equal. By the way I have 3 teenagers myself, thats another shot, name calling, I believe. Oh by the way, basically in the original post, while stopping just short of saying Warroad could win the AA title, you basically did call them the best team in Minnesota. goldy313, I will make one more attempt. I dont care what you think of my writing style. If you dont get the fact that my posts contain satire, schtick, tongue in cheeck stuff together with some salient points while playing off slappy and others who do the same, what can I do about it? I gave you the toga party example. You cling to your opinion that I am a parrott. If that is your opinion, I dont care. If you read my posts, you will see that I have created some schtick on this thread and have weaved that into the theme started by slappy while trying to make some points. If you will read slappys posts , you will see that he has done the same thing with my stuff. Now, while I really dont care what you think of my posts, I do care what you and anyone else has to say about the issues facing high school hockey today. So, if we keep it to that, we will have more fun and not get side tracked. But, if you want to start a personal attck, as you did, about style instead of substance, hey, aint nothin between us but cyber space.

Far from thinking your a parrott Joe, I just agreed with Petey that the act was wearing on me a bit, especially since at the beginning of the thread you had so many good points that were no where near what was coming from Slapshooter. Show me what was a personal attack, I agreed with Petey and let it go there, I was hoping that a couple of opinions from some veteren posters might get the topic back on track. My point was missed I guess. The problem I had was the schtick increased and the salient points all but dissappeared. Slappy, you remind me of an old drill sergeant I had, knock 'em down hard, but don't forget to pick them up at the very end. Keep up the good work.
