Re: Sad Day
His career and his life were cut way too short. Here's to #34. You'll be missed, Kirby. Rest in peace.

Re: Sad Day
If anyone ever goes to the KFAN rube chat or even listens to the station much there is forever a debate on not if we're a racist sate, but how much of one are we. All this centers around Daunte Culpepper, and though I realize we are for better or worse a Vikings state it all clearly misses the whole point. After all, the most beloved sports figure in this state is Kirby Puckett and will be for a long, long time. He is our Joe DiMaggio, our Guy LeFleuer, our Joe Montana. He's the one athlete we all will tell our kids and grandkids that we saw play. Someday we'll have a new stadium and 34 Kirby Puckett place will be as out of whack to people as Killebrew Drive is to many now; but us lucky ones will know exactly what 34 Kirby Puckett place is and why it's there and if we're lucky we will be able to bore our youngsters with stories of glory years and people long passed.

I love hockey, but there is just something about baseball that transcends hockey and there's just something about Kirby Puckett that transcends baseball.

I have sooooo many great memories of Kirby Puckett that I can't put them into words. But one thought enters my mind:

As Kirby walks through those heavenly gates a voice will ring out: "Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention one last time, Your centerfielder, #34 Kirrrrrrrrbbbyyyy Puccckkkeetttt!!!!" said by non other than John Casey himself.

Rest in Peace Kirby.

Sad Day
Kirby Puckett put Minnesota sports on the map. The only things about Kirby that will be remembered more than Game Six, 10 All-Star Games, Six Gold Gloves, and his charity billiards tournament, are his infectous smile, compassionate heart, and transcending inspiration.

God bless Kirby, and thanks for the memories.

Grew up lovin' the guy. Definitely knew how to play the game and his energy was infectious. Will be missed without a doubt.

Btw, announcer is Bob Casey.

Elk River AA State Champions- 2001 Boys & 2004 Girls
