Zero.

To heck with them. When they put the new DECC on the bonding bill (and I'm not talking the paltry $3 million, I'm talking the amount Pawlenty pledged to support, that conservative bozo), we'll see. Even then, why should I put up money that a multi-gazillionaire could put up himself? What a sham.

Let 'em threaten the state with leaving. I care not a whit. The San Antonio Vikings or Los Angeles Vikings. I wouldn't lose a moments sleep if they left.

They don't deserve a penny of my money.

Same for the Twins. Big deal; I'm a Braves fan.

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005
Egomaniac since 2006

Maybe he could do a fund raiser like all the local athletic teams have to do every year

The "queens" could travel around the state selling pizzas, pies (or cake depending on what you like ), cookie dough, etc... you get the idea

I am sure ( ) the state can think of better things to spend our billions of dollars on.
Maybe every school could get a new multi-purpose (less basketball courts of course )facility built. Lee-
First you bash the "conservative bozo", then you say your favorite team is the Braves. we need to do whatever it takes to keep the twins. the vikings can move to alaska for all i care. it has been shown that the athletic heart of a metro area is the MLB team (sorry hockey fans)

Where's Red when we need him?

Post by Knowlze »

Red (Purple Pride) McCombs made a few dollars in a few short years as Vikings owner. I wonder why he isn't offering to contribute? It is his former team he was so "proud" of that "needs" a new stadium. Is the metrodome falling down? I thought it looked fine last time I was there.

Now the Gophers "need" a new stadium, because the one they HAD on campus got demolished. Right in front of our very eyes. Fill the dome once, (without Badger or Iowa fans) and then think about it,....but, only if the U of MN promises not to let it get dozed down like the other one. This is a stucture used 4-5 times a year.

The Twins organization is at least offering up a sustantial amout of money,....some merit in that. Hold out for Carl Pohlad,....he will come through, as he is an honorable man that will not want to leave a legacy of not keeping the Twins in Minnesota. Work with them, the owner is at least willing to spend a substantial amount of his own money, as it should be.

Package a deal

Post by packerboy »

I dont understand why we cant get a major league ball park for baseball. We have had baseball for over 40 years with out a decent facility.

I agree that the owners need to help finance it but the use of public funds to finance private business is hardly new when it involves the public good. Ball parks are no different than airports or convention centers in that regard.

The Vikings would be last on my list but if Ziggi puts a deal on the table thats too good to pass on we should jump on it.

I am tired of hearing about how we have better things to spend the money on. We have aready spent billions and billions on the " better things" including education. What have we spent on Stadiums?

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ckerboy at: 4/10/06 12:01 pm

He'd be crazy to not at least try and get some assistance from the State. The way I see it, Zigi is a developer. He will develop this franchise into something worth much more than the $600 million he paid. Red, on the other hand, was a saleman. He got in to make money as soon as he could.

Fortunately we have a real estate guru as our owner. I am sure he will find someway to get a deal done that will be beneficial to the Vikings and not too harmful on tax dollars. He has shown already that he is more than willing to shell out money in the name of winning.

Blue Breeze, I hope you're right on all that. I keep thinking about all that was said when "Big Red" came to town. Makes me me a little leary about "words" said. However, after saying that, Zigi does seem to want a winning ball team.

That's true about Red, I thought he was the man to get a deal done, but it didn't happen. Zigi has been a little looser with the pursestrings, but a stadium deal is still a tough thing to get done. I'll be crossing my fingers.
