What a cynic you have turned into Lee.

Here is the Snake pooring his heart out , agreeing with Mitch no less, and you suggest that he was just trying to 'stir the pot'.

I never.

I suppose you Dulutherans have to be a little on the skeptical side with the Lake effect and all. But lets face it, our great "state of hockey" has been shown up now and then and the Snake has correctly pointed out some very recent short comings.

However, I think Snake would agree that if we got some more North Dakota boys, things could turn around quickly

Half way decent
I am in no way agreeing with the statement that Wisconsin is the new state ofhockey I think that is an absolutley ridiculous claim made by a bunch of egotistical cheeseheads that haven't had anything else to cheer for this year.

But my point being that Robbie Earl wasn't the only half way decent player not from Minnesota, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe their most vital asset to the team this year Brian Elliot is from Canada. This coming from a Huge Gopher fan too.

Everyone wants a title these days. I'm still waiting to find out who is actually the real "Hockeytown USA". I think Warroad and Detroit have both put in bids. I think I've seen the watertower in Warroad, I believe they make that claim. I wonder if Detroit has a watertower?

Re: A New State of Hockey????
This is kind of a humorous thread. For one the comment of the "New State of Hockey" was not made by a person from the Great State of Cheese, but from Barry Melrose. Joe Pavelski who is the leading scorer on the Badgers is from Wisconsin along with Jack Skille who scored the game winner against Cornel plus 14 out of the 25 players on the Wisconsin roster are from Wisconsin. Yes, we have a few Minnesotans on our team that are key cogs in our well tuned National Championship team, but they are not our only players and in some cases not even key contributors.

As for Kessel, who needs him, we won a national championship without him. Only reason he didn't go to Wisconsin is because him and Skille do not get along at all, thier battles are well known down in the Madison area and the way things worked out I would take Jack over Phil. I am sure Phil's golf game will be a bit better than Jack's since he was able to get in a few more rounds.

As for high school hockey, yeah you guys are still at a different level then ours, but I would put our top teams agaisnt your top teams and it wouldn't be a throttling like it would 10 years ago. The gap is closing.

Re: A New State of Hockey????
I have a simple solution...put the top 20 D-1 Wisconsin grown boys vs. the Top 20 D-1 Minnesota grown boys...

Since only 1 player out of the five Minnesota D-1 schools is from Wisconsin (Kessel) and fourteen players from Wisconsin are from Cheddarville...I think it would be fun to watch your 20 against our 20.

Who would play goalie for Bucky, Ryan Jeffrey?

Wisconsin has NOTHING!!! One championship in the last 10 years, Minnesota's got two. I didn't hear NoDak or Denver telling everyone they were the new "state of hockey". Wisconsin just adds its name to the latest of the Blind Squirrels (or Badgers) to find a nut.
Taylor Mattson-The Next Non-Mr. Hockey

Re: A New State of Hockey????
Once again nobody from Wisconsin said Wisconsin is the New State of Hockey. That was Barry Melrose. In overall National Championship at the college level we have six and the Goofers have five. So even with the new math that would mean the Cardinal and White has one more then the Lake Rats.

Just did some comparison with some scores between MN high school and Wisconsin High School teams. University School our state champion defeated Blake in thier tourney down there and last I saw Blake was 6th in Class A. New Richmond lost to Hastings 0-3 in a Rochester Tourney but then I believe beat both Century and JM to take 5th. Superior lost to D. Marshall and Hermantown by a goal and lost to Duluth East by three and they got bounced in the first round of our state tourney. What does this mean, not a heck of a lot really. Only that some of your top teams are not killing our top and not so top teams. The gap is closing.

Would be a true statement....IF it was completely factual...

Quote:
Once again nobody from Wisconsin said Wisconsin is the New State of Hockey

The headlining article on Wisconsin Prep Hockey's Website declares Cheddarland the new State of Hockey. Those three teams are unranked in Minnesota and had a combined record of 42-34-3. They got "bounced" in the second round of sections by Cloquet. Cloquet beat Superior 6-1. Cloquet didn't even make it to state. As for the Class A schools, they are class A schools, making it to our "small" tourney, Superior is one of your states "big dogs".

Quote:
Only that some of your top teams are not killing our top and not so top teams. Is anyone else a little P.O'ed by the statement last night during the NCAA Title Game referencing that "Minnesota has lost the right to be called the State of Hockey" and it now belongs to Wisconsin?

Starting post for this thread. I think that article in the WisconsinPrep Hockey came after this statement made by Bengal.

FACT: The Cardinal and Red has both National Championships for college hockey.

FACT: Over half the players on the Badgers are home grown talent.

FACT: Goofers were part of the biggest upset ever in the history of the NCAA Tourney.

FACT: Once again another Minnesotan team choked.

I will take the gap closing for Strahan's teeth. Just keep up the arrogance and talk and soon you will be leaped frogged. Michigan is catching you guys, Wisconsin is catching you guys.

The arrogance astounds me, even when I lived in Minnesota. I always loved Minnesota, problem was it was filled with Minnesotans.
