Thoughts on the Vikings Schedule
Looks to me like the Vikings have a fairly tough schedule. Any thoughts on how they'll do? Can they get to 10 wins?
September
11: at Washington
17: vs. Carolina
24: vs. Chicago
October
1: at Buffalo
8: vs. Detroit
15: BYE
22: at Seattle
30: vs. New England
November
5: at San Francisco
12: vs. Green Bay
19: at Miami
26: vs. Arizona
December
3: at Chicago
10: at Detroit
17: vs. New York Jets
21: at Green Bay
31: vs. St. Louis

NE, Seattle and Washington are th eonly tough teams they play all year. I think they have a pretty easy schedule.
"my wife tells me I am pathetic with how much high school hockey I go to."

Re: Thoughts on the Vikings Schedule
What about them? I guess Carolina is decent. But the Bears have absolutely no offense at all. If the "dikes" score 10 they should win that game. So where are the other 7 or 8 "tough" games you are talking about hawkfan???
"my wife tells me I am pathetic with how much high school hockey I go to."

how many more times
As a long time "dikes" fan (I prefer queens) we are used to being dissapointed. Maybe part of the reason is we get our hopes up to soon. Ohhhhhh, they were 3-1 or 4-0 in the preseason. Big Whoop.
With the parity in the NFL I am pretty sure that no one can tell us with any amount of certainty who is going make the playoffs let alone who is going to the super bowl next year.
With that in mind here is what I can see for next year and I am never right at predicting anything (dead last in the section contest I think)

September
11: at Washington W
17: vs. Carolina L
24: vs. Chicago L
October
1: at Buffalo W
8: vs. Detroit W
15: BYE
22: at Seattle L
30: vs. New England L
November
5: at San Francisco W
12: vs. Green Bay W
19: at Miami W
26: vs. Arizona W
December
3: at Chicago L
10: at Detroit W
17: vs. New York Jets W
21: at Green Bay W
31: vs. St. Louis ?

If the "queens" still have a shot when they play St Louis, they will get creamed.
If they are "Out Of It" by then, the vikes walk all over them

one mans opinion

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... wkfan70 at: 4/7/06 11:52 am

Re: how many more times
Miami is a very tough game, as is basically every road game in the NFL. You can't chalk up a W for any team on the road. If Brad Johnson is the starter, I'll give this team 10 wins in a weak NFC. If we acquire Matt Schaub, I'll push it to 11-12 wins.

see what I mean

Evan if they get Matt Schaub will he start? I doubt he will star tthis year until Johnson gets hurt or something. And hawkfan you think the "dikes" will get swept by "da Bears"

"my wife tells me I am pathetic with how much high school hockey I go to."

Schaub
He would most likely start, since we would be giving up either a 1st or 2nd round pick to attain him. He has a high upside, and is a risk/reward type situation. Played well in his brief stints last year.

Re: Schaub
The Queenies will not win anything until there is a new Corvette convertable "stadium" with a 427 CI 450 HP V-8 with twin 4's! Re: who cares
1st things 1st when the bears cant score 20 points or more they arent going to win anything but possible pride.....all you vikings fans(including myself)the vikings will be nothing even if they do make it to the playoffs...making it to the playoffs means nothing inless you win the whole thing....in a way you almost rather not make it so you get a better draft pick like the vikings

Empty seats in Dome on the Horizon
1. @Wash, No - Primetime blow out in front of national audience on revamped Monday Night football premier
2. Carolina, No - a franchise they never show up against, I seem to remember the Panthers winning one game a few years back, who do you suppose that was against?
3. Chicago, No - another team that has owned the Vikes lately
4. @ Buffalo, No - Vikes don't win on the road, especially in the AFC, gamblers don't even take the points they get, Bills cover easily.
5. Detroit, Yes - even a blind squirrel finds a nut
6. @ Sea, No - Seahawks will have the spread by Halftime
7. New England - Yes, a big win over a good team in a year when it won't matter
8. @ SF, No - Candlestick is a "house of horrors" for Vikes
9. Green Bay, No - Bad Packers still get up for Vikes
10. @ Miami, No - AFC road games have already been discussed, Culpepper factor is no factor, this is a loss with or without him.
11. Arizona, Yes - DenDen's good season hits road bump in Dome, bad loss for improved Cardinals
12. @ Chicago, No - Vikes couldn't win here when the Bears were bad
13. @ Detroit, No - TV ratings will be low even in the Twin Cities and Detroit markets
14. Jets, No - NY teams bring out worst in Vikes most of the time, improbable win @ Giants Stadium previous year was an anomoly
15. Green Bay, No - Bad Packers get sweep and repay Vikings' sweep of previous year
16. St. Louis, Tie - both teams are so bad they can't beat each other

Final Record 3-12-1, There you have it, enjoy the pre-season because by the Bye week their year will be over. Vikes are entering the Central celler for a few years. Accept it because it's here, the only thing that makes it bearable is that the Pack will be right there with em. Vikes become contenders again when or if 1) Childress is the answer, 2)they draft better, 3)create a team nucleus of better human beings, 4) Zigi know football like real estate, and 5) solve the stadium problem. Until then look for a lot of empty blue seats, and we ain't talkin about the Gophs or Twins here.

That's quite the pessimistic view on things. I'll accept all your predicitions except the empty seats, it's been awhile since the Vikes have failed to sell out.

Re: Empty seats in Dome on the Horizon
It's been a while since the Vikes will be this bad. Even in Denny Green's last disasterous season and Tice's first year, Moss was still a drawing card. Who do they have now people will go watch?

Isn't it obvious?

Re: Isn't it obvious?
I know I would go out of my way to see a 37 year old, immobile, average armed QB on a team with a losing record and a porous defense in a snow storm on my day off.

W's and L's
First let me say that I think the Vikings will be a much improved team. I feel the changes in ownership and coaching will be help get the Vikings over the hump and win a Super Bowl. Not this year, but they will be Super Bowl Champions in the next few years. The "D" will be top 10 this year, but for a change the offense will hold them back. Johnson is only a temporary solution to their troubles at QB, at best.

@Washington- L- Washington's "D" will be too much
Carolina- L- Smoot still can't cover Steve Smith
Chicago- W- Grossman is out, Vikings 3-2 on Longwell FG
@ Buffalo- W-Bills are better, but they're still not very good
Detroit- W- Matt Millen is completley inept
@ Seattle- L- Tight game, but Seattle wins
New England-L - NE lost quite a bit in FA, but NE still wins
@ San Francisco- W-They're better, but they still suck.
Green Bay- W- Favre wishes he retired
@ Miami- L- Daunte plays great, 1st and last time of season.
Arizona- W- It's week 12, Denny starts Vince Young.
@ Chicago- L- Season split, Bears win 3-2
@ Detroit- W- Matt Millen is completley inept
New York Jets- W-Pennington out for season, Jets start Cutler
@Green Bay- W- Favre really, really wishes he retired
St. Louis- W- Linehan loses his 1st trip back to the Dome.

10-6 is only a couple wins better than the past few years, but it will seem like more because of the way they will play. They'll play more disciplined and professional.
