Good question, I am sure there a few teams that will express interest, maybe not as a closer, but a good arm out of the bullpen. Boston's bullpen is much improved over last year and they may not need him as much. As Irishmans Shanty suggested the Cubs may be in need of an arm at the back of the pen, perhaps Foulke could be a guy they're interested in as well.

Just checked the box score yesterday, Twins hitters were 4/31. Ouch! Twins' current scoring drought sits at 1/3rd of an inning. Any takers on when they get their first run tommorow? I'll go with a single run in the Bottom of the 6th. Over-under on hits = 7. I'll take the under.

I'll take the under. Juan Castro hits a two run single in the 5th and Rondell White hits a solo homer for the Twins 3 runs. They end up with 6 hits. Fortunately we miss Harden for the A's, but we're still stuck with Haren who is a good, young pitcher.

Twins break out tonight and beat the A's 6-2. Radke gives up a two run homer to chavez in the first. White and Mauer have big hits for the Twins. Grand Rapids-2006 State Runner Up

I like Boblee's optimism. I'll pick the final 2 games of the series as the Twins offensive breakout. Tonight they face a tough pitcher, but a few runs here and there could give them some confidence.

Some positive signs in tonight's game. Good to see Batista hitting the ball well, and early on it appears that Morneau can be that power hitter that we so covet. A decent if unspectacular start from Radke. Nathan was throwing smoke in the 9th, good to see him finally get an opportunity. Solid win against a good team, hopefully they can build on it. P.S-Torri Hunter special on FSN right now.

Some numbers I like so far 48,911 = Attendance 3 = Mourneau HR's 1 week into the season 92 = Pitches thrown by the A's starter to record 18 outs, with only one walk to show for, it means the Twins had some quality AB's, something they didn't do Sat and Sun in Cleveland 3 = RBI's from Batista, he won the game, if he can single- handedly win 2 games per month, that is 10 more wins this year that 3B didn't provide all of last year. .333 = Mauer's average, a tribute to his consistency at something that players his age usually can't do yet 0 = Twins errors, something a small hitting, small market team must do every night to be competitive 2 = Radke wins in as many starts 1/1 = Nathan's conversion rate for saves, wins will be tough all year, but leads at home in the 9th can't be compromised

Another postive: Juan Castro has played like a gold-glover the first week. He has prevented numerous hits and runs. As far as good at-bats go, Luis Castillo has brought a very professional approach to the batters box.

Ill tell you what boys, the pitching is scarring the heck out of me. I think that lineup is good enough to make the playoffs if the pitching is as good as it has been the last few seasons. But it looks like their pitchers want to have the same kind of season this year that the hitters had last year. Crain made it real intersting last night. They havent had many quality starts at all. That has to change.

Santana usually starts slow, I'm not worried about him and Radke has the guile to survive bad innings. The keys are Silva and Lohse, Baker's still too green to expect too much from. If these two guys don't pick it up, particularly Lohse, they're going to have to move Liriano into the rotation. Crain has not been good either, but they've got other guys in the pen that should be able to pick up the slack.

Sure ChrisK, your buddy Radke has a lot if guile allright. He demonstrates that every time he cashes his paycheck.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> He may be the most overpriced athlete we have had around here since we went major leagie in the early 60's. Last year he was more concerned about the 3rd base coach and manangement than getting thru the 1st inning. As long as we score 7 or 11 he'll be fine.

I'm not going to argue that he's not overpriced, but I think you're getting a bit carried away. Terrell Brandon. Herschel Walker. I'm sure I could come up with others if I took the time. While note quite as talented, he reminds me of Bert Blyleven when he came back to the Twins in the late '80s. He gets knocked around, but he hangs in there and gives the team a chance to win. He actually pitched a good game last night, the two homers were both solo shots and there were two pitches to Thomas in the 2nd that were good enough to call strike three but the ump wouldn't pull the trigger. What was most impressive to me was when the Twins went ahead Radke sent the A's down 1-2-3, I've seen too many games where a pitcher will let a team back in. Clubhouse rants from last year notwithstanding, he sets a good example for the younger pitchers with his cool, calm, collected mound demeanor. The Twins are paying too much for him, but if anyone on this team is overpaid it's Kyle Lohse. And the Yankees are paying $19 mill for Mike Mussina who had a higher ERA and WHIP and pitched fewer innings than Radke.

I wasnt thinking about the Timberwolves when I made that comment but...who thinks about them anymore. I have been anti Radke for quite some time and he hasnt done anything to change me. I think they could do more with the 9 million.

There are many who are on the anti-Radke bandwagon, and to some point, it is justified. Is he overpaid? Definitely. He gives up his share, actually a lot of people's share of home runs, and he gets banged around. But he doesn't walk people, and he nearly singlehandedly won that Oakland playoff series for us a couple years ago. He has done a lot for this franchise, sticking through the lean years where the team was consistently losing 95 games. You know what you will get year in and year out, and that is 10-15 wins and an ERA around 4. Not elite numbers, but ones that many teams would take. Does anyone remember when he got hurt during 2003? We crumbled without him in the rotation, and when he came back we were able to turn it around and make another playoff push. All that being said, I am not going to be devastated when he most likely retires after this season, I think it is time for new blood in there. But I will remember him as a player who battled every time out there and gave some very good years to a franchise when he just as easily could have signed somewhere else.

I wouldn't consider myself a Radke hater but I don't think he has ever been worth the money or stature the Twins have given him. He is a very good pitcher, servicable, good role model for younger guys coming up, but he is not an ace. Radke has been considred the ace of the staff for far to long. Thank goodness Johan developed the way he did and became the real staff ace this team has needed since Frank Viola left. Radke is and always has been a decent number two or three starter.

This is some good stuff, men. Radke.............I could go on all night......Overpaid? Yes. Name a 33 year old, one franchise pitcher with a decent post-season resume who is not. Frustrating to watch? At times. Does he care? Yes. Can he go 16-9 this year? Yes. Don't worry about Radke, you know what your going to get. He's going to give you an early hole, but he will give you a chance to win provided your not last in the league in scoring. His fastball will look very hittable at 89. If you want to worry, Lohse is your guy. Packerboy, I won't debate you on Radke, you'll present a great case no doubt. We all have our whipping boys, and thank Terry Ryan, mine is gone (LeCroy).

If Carlos Silva didn't have to deal with Nick Swisher he would be throwing a good game. His sinker is not sinking yet, but I'll give that time. I'm more encouraged by the bats starting to get hot than I am deterred by the sluggish pitching start, I think once it all comes together, we'll be right in the mix.
