Re: Bemidji pee wee A's.
elliott70 did you watch this game? If so what did you think of the call on the check the Omdahl kid threw in the first period? I thought it was a bad call as were some of the calls later in the game. That was both ways. From the game I do think Roseau and Bemidji are them teams to beat but there are some not far behind that could knock either one off if they take them lightly.

Re: Bemidji pee wee A's.
I saw the game.
Overall, I thought the reffing was fine. As in every game I saw things I thought should be called, things that, from my angle should not have been.

But very good teams. Yes, they can be beat, even within D16 and in the gold region, but would not surprise me to see both at state.

Omdahl is #5?
Saw him get away with one, so the one in the first period may not have been a penalty, but probably got a break somewhere else. He is big, strong and aggressive. He will take penalties. But I would rather have an aggresive kid taking one or two working hard type penaties then a non-aggressive kid with no penalties.

Re: Bemidji pee wee A's.
Elliott,
How do you see TRF and EGF doing come district time. Can either of them upset Roseau or Bemidji?

Or do Roseau and Bemidji (assuming they don't slip up) have a solid track at Regions? I seem to recall the standings looking similar last year and oops! Roseau and Bemidji got upended in the single elimination district tourney. Why does District 16 not have a double elimination district tourney?

Double elim would do a better job of insuring that the best two teams make it to Regions.

Re: Bemidji pee wee A's.
EGF and TRF are good teams that could pull a repeat of last year. I think Roseau and Bemdiji are stronger this year than last year and seem to be playing more consistent. Bemidji's goal tender is very good, making them more stable and less likely to be upset. Roseau has a lot of size and strength.

But the semis should be good, assuming Crookston, LOW or Warroad don't pull an upset.

DOUBLE ELIM
It used to be used but it is hard to get a true doube elim done with 7 teams over Fri - Sun.

So the local assn decided to go back to single elim for 7 or more teams.

Single elimination
Another idea would be to have the regular season first place team advance to regions automatically. As long as two teams go that would seem to work and put more importance on the regular season??? What do you think?

Re: Single elimination
i think thats what district 5 does. They let the 1st place team go to regions and all the other teams go to districts to duke it out for 2nd 3rd and 4th seeds.

Re: Single elimination
Bloomington coach said Roseau can play wityh any team in state!!They are hungry!!!

Re: Single elimination
How many points do Omdahl and Baumgarter have? Every time i read in the paper it is Omdahl from Baumgartner, Baumgartner from Omdahl, some random kid from Baumgartner and Omdahl.
I know a tie is a lot like kissing your sister, but think of it more like kissing a really hot step-sister.

Re: Single elimination
Roseau is on a 12 game winning streak. Also on a 28 game non-losing streak. At 35-1-1 how do you think they will do in Regions? State? Who can and cannot beat them?

I think alot of teams cna beet Roseau, its just that they need to stepp it up a level to beet them. Teams that can beet Roseau will be Edina, EP and Lakeville south i think.

Re: Roseau PWA
who has Roseau beat. 35-1-1 is a darn good record but I guess it depends who you play because if you play terrible unranked teams then 35-1-1 isnt all that great.

Totally agree, you could play in a district against crap teams, go to tournaments with those teams and still have a record like that. It all depends...

Maybe it's just me, but i think Omahdal is overated

-"Let the scoreboard do the talking"

Talked to a guy from Roso-said they played a cupcake schd.
and figures they will get drilled by top teams.

Re: Roseau PWA
well i'm from Roseau and our schedule was a mixed bag.. some great teams, some solid and some poor. i dont know who duluth east has played but we beat them early in the season. pretty evenly played match we roseau came out on top 5-4.. the stillwater game was a joke we should have beat them by five goals.. totally out played them 3-0 heading into the third goalie totaly saved them up to that point and then the refs took over we were short handed most of the third and 4minutes of the five minute over time and the game still ended 3-3.. the best guess i have if you have to play roseau i wouldnt get to worked up should be a fairly easy game to advance yourself in regions or state if we get their. after all roseau is no edina or eden prairie we only win the state high school hockey tourney about once every ten years which im sure all the big schools down south have done much much better than that.so dont fret about hickville roseau with its crappy schedule that we've played since hockey was born in the area..as for omdahl yeah hes way over rated out of the 40 to 50 teams i've seen play this year i havent seen one player yet that could even carry his hockey bag to the rink. i wouldn't worry about that kid one bit whats his number anyway?????

I followed everything you said, except that no one could carry Omdahls hockey bag. Is it really heavy or big? Can't he carry it himself?

Re: Roseau PWA
Or maybe no one is good enough to carry it
