maroon tourney

Post by dereu »

to say the mahtomedi peewee team is nothing without ben marshall is a shallow and uninformed statement. There is not a peewee team in the state that can qualify for regional play based on one player. Mahtomedi is an assoc that, in a good year, might have 45-50 players tryout for the entire peewee level. Mahtomedi is an assoc that does not even have its own rink to practice on. A non-parent coach - forget about it. You have a peewee team here, that week in and week out, goes up against the white bears, the stillwaters, the rosevilles & the north st pauls of peewee hockey and still managed to qualify for the regional tourny ! There is a pretty proud group of hockey players right now in maht and a 7-0 loss (without marshall) to the #1 ranked team in the state won't diminish that one bit.

dereu, I feel ya all the way. Just because you lost to the #1 ranked team in the state doesn't mean you're not a good team. Great to hear the background of the team - something many kids from the larger associations just wouldn't understand; lower numbers to choose from, parent coaches and yet playing the top competion and 'competing'. I love to hear the passion of teams (players, parents and coaches)such as this.
After losing to EP does the team still have another game? If so when. I'll be ruting for them.

rochhockey4life, are you sure about the 1rst yr/2nd yr goalie? Only asking because I talked with one of the dads from that team and he said they were both 2nd year peewees. I agree with you that they have really developed as a TEAM, playing as a team and lots of great passing.

Also, the above post, was that the actual score Blaine over Rochester? When is the next game for Rochester?

PWA Maroon Regional Hockey

Post by Racer 19 »

The Rochester PWA Goalies are a 2nd year who has a very good chance to make the Bantam A's next year and the other goalie is a 1st year.

Rochester's big D dominate every game. #7 and #15 you better watch out for them

Thanks Racer 19. Not sure which is which (1rst or 2nd year), both are small but very good. I think they will each do very well next year!

Rochesters 1st year goalie's name is Brock Kautz (sp?) and the 2nd year is Nick Heimer. I think Heimer will be able to make Bantam A's, if Rochester decides to do A1, A2 next year which it sounds like they are planning on. Although i don't think he will make A1's because Brian King (A North) and either of the 2 First year bantam B goalies from this year will take the other spot on A1, that is if King doesn't go to JM since they are very short on goalies, only having 2 next year if i am not mistaken. Sorry about the off topic post...just had to give my own 2 cents.
