I saw Buffalo play a couple times in a tournament and I have played against Mankato this year and I personally think Mankato is the better team.

Silver Regionals PWA

Buffalo had Burnsville down 3-1 with 7 minutes left in the 3rd....yup...we collapsed.

We also had Mahtomedi down 2-1 after the first period...also not a happy ending.

We have one line that up til this year has never been on an A team....they have struggled up until a few weks ago...really starting to figure it out...they are huge....less skilled but ironically scored 4 of our 5 goals against Mankato (the other came from a defenseman). Our two other lines didn't put up a goal. They will do better next time.

We are playing our best hockey of the year right now. If you look at our stats, other than our games with Sartell, our less experienced goalie has played half the time...that won't be the case in Litchfield.

We beat Crow River 7-2 the last time we played them and 7-2 against Mound (strange but true on the identical scores).

Other than at Brainerd...where after losing to Mahtomedi, we throttled Prior Lake/Savage & Armstrong for consolation....we've stunk up the joint at tournaments...I think we're better than that.

Let the games begin....good luck to all at Litchfield.

Buffalo PWA

Post by Scot87 »

D5 Dreamer - you don't have to worry about Buffalo PWA getting respect from Mankato's kids because if you guys beat Faribault in the first round, you've done something Mankato couldn't do in two tries during the regular season - Faribault went 14-0 in District 4 play this year, sweeping Mankato and New Prague. Faribault also made it to the Silver region final last year, losing in overtime (to Mankato) 1-0, so it's no problem for Buffalo to earn respect playing them. Good Luck to all the teams.

I pretty much have to agree Scott. I respect Buffalo no doubt, but they have to beat Faribault in oreder to prove they can play with the two other top D4 teams. Mankato is 0-2 agianst Faribault this year, with two 2-1 losses, and New Prague 1-2, with a pair of two goal losses, and a one goal, 4-3 win in the district Semi's last weekend. Most of the D4 teams are playing their best game of the year right now, as I expect it from teh D5 teams as well. either wya, this will be a fun tourney. I know Mankato wants a crack at Faribault again, but they'll take whoever they get. As of right now, Mankato has to worry about taking down Mound, before they play Faribault or Buffalo.

Silver Regional PWA

Faribault v. Buffalo is the game to watch in the first round of this regional - don't expect Faribault to play like a #3 seed. That should be a very good indicator of how strong the two Districts are. Sartell should beat New Ulm, and I'd expect Mankato and New Prague to win in the first round also.

Any predictions?

We figured Buffalo vs. Faribault was the game to watch too. Buffalo figures they got a raw deal having to play the best D4 team right off the bat. But again (homer talking), we thought we sooooo outplayed Mankato (in light of our player/goalie situation) that we figured we were the favorite (homer). It's obvious the folks from D4 don't see it that way....they may be right....we'll all be smarter Sunday PM!

The D5 teams are very inconsistant. MAML (who didn't make it) at times was one of the better teams...so was Hutch (they tied a nice Sartell team)...they also didn't make it.

It looks like both Mankato and Buffalo have solid teams this year. I need to ask though, how many ranked teams has buffalo played?

Not sure who's ranked and not entirely keen on the "politics" of ranking....but we have played Hopkins, Armstrong, Champlin Park, Burnsville, Osseo, Mahtomedi, Prior Lake/Savage, Rogers, Proctor, Apple Valley, Coon Rapids....plus many D5 teams.

There certainly can't be any ranked teams in D4 is there?

correction on scot the faribault game in the championship was 2-1 not 1-0. also can you ladies stop fighting about respect and who you have played. other teams you have played and the scores of those games dont matter at all anymore. just show up this weekend. i think d5dreamer will be upset when his team gets spanked by faribault. it seems to me like you are a little confident. trust me my friend be afraid...be very afraid...muahahahah

I am the souperstar.

i agree with soup. stop the fighting and lets talk about hockey. we dont have to worry about respect why the heck should we?? d5dreamer if buffalo goes and beats faribault then people will give you respect because they are in the top 1-2 in the district. who cares about if your team is respected now wait til the end of the year and then we'll talk about respect

If hard work pays off- the easy work is worthless

Mankato is ok,but doesn't quite have the firepower to knock off Faribault, and New Pragues goalie is terrible, so my prediction is that Faribault will go to state but look for Buffalo and Sartell to give them a run for their money.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... 4life15 at: 3/2/06 9:21 pm

Hey roch, you say Mankato is awful...? they are the D4 Champs. They have two one-goal losses to Faribault this season, two very winnable games against them. BTW, You should provide information on WHY Mankato is so called awful. I'm suire even the Bantam A kids would not call us awful. We may not be the cream of the crop, but we are DEFINATLY not awful.

JDOG: I believe the Bantam A games are played on the South Rink.

Sorry hockeykid I guess I should consider my facts more before posting. When we played you guys I didn't know that you were all worn out and your best player was hurt etc. I just assumed that you were that bad. Also, sorry to anyone I have offended or made rude remarks to, I have a rough day going for me here...
