PeeWee B1 State........Once again bad refs

Post by BurntToast1 »

My son plays for Princeton so I am not partial to any other team. He finished his game and we were watching the Chaska vs. Centennial B1 game. Alot of good back and forth action. It was tied 1-1 when Centennial takes a shot from the point and the puck defects off a Chaska player and goes in. The ref signals a goal, then the Chaska coach and the 2 refs meet and before you no it the goal is waived off because of a high stick. All these kids worked extremely hard through out the year to get a chance to play at this Tourny and poor officiating takes it away from them. Chaska scored on their very next possesion to go up 2-1. It would have been nice to see this game go into OT tied at 2-2. Just my 2 cents.

I also saw this game. That was a teribble call and it cost centennial a trip to the big game. I think centennial should have won that game because they played their hearts out and got screwed by the refs

I stayed for this game and, that high stick was in my mind a good call. I dont know where you guys were positioned but since I was behind the Chaska goalie, it looked like a high stick to me. Even if the high stick was a goal, chaska was still dominating the play, outshooting Cen. 20-10. Had this gone in OT (since it would be 2-2) chaska probably wouldve won. But I got a bite to eat during the 1st so i only saw the last 2 periods. This is where Chaska dominated. Yet, i heard from some centennial parents that they had a bad 1st period to, getting outshot by 5 shots or so.

From what I saw, it was a very close (and difficult) call for the ref. I thought it was a high stick, looked to be about eye level where he tipped it. Talked to someone who had it on videotape and said it was a clear high stick. A good call in a difficult situation for the refs. Kudos to them.

bad call/

Post by tjhd5 »

is that all we can cry about is one call in 45 minutes of hockey. Give me a break. get real, and get a life. sounds like the officials got the right call and even if they didnt , what happen to the other 44 minute and 59 seconds of play. but thats ok lets blame the refs. what a joke

Apparently Tonka is pissed off and they say the goalie for Chaska was the only reason they won. Chaska is 5-2-1 against them, stop whining bunch of frickin babies<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:"> . Here is the exact quote from Tonka's website:

The PWB1 team came up against a hot goalie and lost to Chaska 3-0 in the Championship game and is the Runner-up in State!

Chaska physically dominated, although Tonka had a few chances to put it in but didnt. Tonka also had 2 PP to convert on and chaska had none. Chaska

Yup...I watched most of the games and without a doubt, Chaska was the best PWB team there.

Wow ice00, pretty harsh. I've talked to kids from Tonka and not one of them blamed the loss on a hot goalie. They would all agree that Chaska was the better team yesterday.

You got the quote from the association website? What was it supposed to say? "Chaska totally dominated and Tonka didn't deserve to win"? Association websites are supposed to promote the successes of their teams, and when I read it, that's what it does.

Remember that these are 12-13 year old kids. Tonka placed second. The team deserves congratulations, not ridicule. And the truth is that the Chaska goalie did play well, made some great saves. Congrats to them and to all the winners.

what i dont agree with is them saying they faced a hot goalie. They couldve said they plated a hot Chaska team or the game was clos but chaska came ont top.

BTW, stop defending your B1 team

Princeton and refs

Post by Defenseman Legacy »

Princeton has been on the winning side of too many bad ref calls. Like the one when they played EP, a kid hit the puck in off his own glove and the ref called it a goal anyway and now this thing against Centennial. I think someone should look to see if it was the same ref, and who hired him again after that call.

Bad Ref or Not

Life is not fair gentlemen!

At some point in time you will realize that, and become much wiser! What starts out as "getting screwed by the refs", and "poor officiating" will soon become "my boss has got it out for me", or "the cops screwed me". Society, and its entitlement attitude, have created a bunch of whiners!

Winners, and people with winning attitudes, don't need excuses, they don't need reasons why....they just need more challenges, which will lead to more opportunities for them, and more excuses for the others!

When Parents Hit Rock Bottom

Post by ice00breaker »

bannermaster

It is not the kids who are the big whiners and arrogant jerks. It is the parents who are constantly making excuses when they lose . Ive seen Chaska play your Tonka team 4 out of the 8 times this year. The first two were when they played in the Midwest Regional Tournament. After the loss they claimed that they were missing a kid, one kid is not going to make a huge difference. When they played them for the second time and Tonka won they had no problem rubbing it in. Dont see how when Chaska outplayed them 2 out of the 3 periods (One more thing, all of those goals were on PP's except for the Empty net, but I didnt hear Chaska complain)that they can still act like theyre better than evry 1. The 3rd time was in the Osseo tourney when Chaska beat Tonka 5-3, and this time it was the classic blame the refs excuse. Chaska had 1 PP that game and didnt capitalize on it. Finally, in the State Tourney, not only did they mention it on their web site as an excuse, but your parents were talking about how its too bad that in the final game of the year they had to play a team that won cause they had a great goalie. How many times do you have to get outplayed and beat by a team until you finally admit that theyre better than you?

Seems like there is considerable heat towards the Skippers - Minnetonka got whipped 5 times and they know it - they're just trying to save face. You have something that they want and will never have - a state championship trophy. Enjoy it, and smile at it every time - it's one of a kind!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p100.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... uckedup at: 3/21/06 3:21 pm

Can't we all just get along? In regards to Chaska's goalie play in the championship game - they actually played BOTH goalies, and the best opportunity Tonka had was the first shot the cold goalie saw, maybe 15 feet out and the kid made an outstanding glove save on it. Most of the other shots (about 15 of 'em) were fairly low percentage shots. I thought both teams played outstanding team defense, Chaska was just a little more "hungry" in front of both nets.

without question - Chaska played excellent d as did Minnetonka - don't know the season stats but seemed like low # of shots by both teams. The low number of goals allowed all season by Chaska would almost lead one to think that they stacked the B roster with defense - looked like their A team had a bunch of pretty skaters but sure not very defensive-minded.

For all the people whining about losing because of bad refing? Get serious people. If a ref makes a call that you think is bad, deal with it. If you just make excuses saying that you lost cause of a lucky goal or bad refing, all it does is label you as a whiner and no one likes that. Its just annoying. If you think your team was called on a bad penalty, which happens a lot, kill the penalty and put one on the board after that. If you think your team is so good and shouldnt have lost because of a bad call or lucky goals or the "they had a really good goalie" excuse, your not anything great. Good teams who want to win wont complain about bad calls and such. They will shake it off and use it as motivation to score. Think about that next time you think a bad penalty is called, and use it to your advantage and make somethin good of it.

My point exactly. Chaska killed one of their PP's on a questionable high stick call, but the refs are trying to do their best. Chaska killed that penalty and went on to score shortly after that.

Why not just congratulate the teams, wish them luck for next season and start looking ahead rather than looking back?

Everyone at these tournaments, including the officials "earned" their way to the games. And everyone did the best they could. Past that, nothing more needs to be said unless the district people in attendance saw a problem.
