Tier 2 16U Nationals Fixed Shootout

Post by hockjock26 »

I don't know if anyone has heard about the tier 2 nationals in pittsburgh. There was a situation that should never be repeated. It ended up in there being a 4-way shootout in which 2 teams preceded to cheat and fix the shootout. It was a disgrace to hockey as a whole, and to the way that USA Hockey handled the situation. To find out more info on this subject, go to these websites, I think some of the posts have been shut down because of the overflow of people trying to view and comment on this issue.

<a href="http://pub1.bravenet.com/forum/43017082 ...

<a href="http://eteamz.active.com/icehockey/boar ...

Let me just tell you what happened because none of these websites seem to be working at the moment. 4 teams had identical records. the first tiebreaker was goal differential. The monarchs and quakers both had 0, and toledo and alaska both had negative differentials. Clearly the monarchs and quakers should move on. But since the differeentials were tied, USA Hockey said that the other teams were back in it, thus forcing the 4-way shootout. If the monarchs had given up one MORE goal, or scored one LESS goal, then they would have already been into the next round. Anyways, the monarchs win the first shootout, 6-3-3-2, but since the teams in second place tied, we had to do the shootout all over again. What??? The goals from the first shootout didn't even count towards the second one. The shootout was probably going to end up in a tie again, but with fivew shots to go, the 2 teams shooting last decide to fix the shootout. Their goalies just step out of the net and let the other team score. They didn't even make it not look obvious. So those two teams moved on and the monarchs ended up getting screwed. Everyone knew these teams blatantly cheated, including USA Hockey, but they did nothing about it. The teams were not disqualified or anything. What are your thoughts on this issue, because I can tell you mine???
