Well, the ecumenical appeal of our Holy Alliance is now apparent to all.

Yes, Rabbi Goldstein joins us and Marches on the road right along with and slightly behind Sister Mary Rose , my 4th grade teacher and her friend.

We say "Shalom Rabbi" and welcome aboard. I understand that he will be staying with Bruce Springsteen in his tour bus.

Govs, if you need a tip on where to watch hockey on Sat, check out the X at 1:00, head up to mass at the Cathedral after; get a burger at the Nook ;and then come on over to Highland for CDH vs WBL. I suppose you could have a better time doin somehin else but I dont know how.

We are on the road boys , the road From Constantinople to St Paul.

By this point, I figured you'd know how logistically impossible that is for a guy like me...

An Irish Eastsider walking from the X, past the Liffey, up the hill? No chance.

The road from From St Paul to Constantinople detours when the Rocky Road to Dublin's favorite brew crosses your path.

If you are Irish, you can stop at the Liffey on your way to the Cathedral.

Well boys , hope you enjoyed the cook out.

Packerboy's special recipe grilled walleye filets were oustanding. Good of jackdaniels to stop over with his fresh catch. He caught that one in the river during an unauthorized break in his construction job rebuilding the 35W bridge. Tasty.

I told Govs to head down to the X on Sat and work his way up to Highland but he didnt listen.

He missed some great hockey as the Catholics put on quite a show. HM beat STA in OT on FSN and CDH beat WBL Area 2-1. Both were nail bitters and well played games. We thank FSN for promoting Catholic hockey. With the economy causing recent shortfalls in the recruiting budget , a TV game at the Xcell sure helps with that.

Yah, and it was real Chamber of Commerce moment when they showed everybody freezing up North too. Ahh, the "good" ole days.

Catholics at the Xcel , public and flannel shirt crowd shivering in the wind. Perfect.

This week CDH travels up to Duluth to play the quasi Catholic Marshall Hilltoppers on Tuesday. This will be the third and hopefully last attempt to play this game. The Dulutherans have had to postpone twice because of a slight breeze and a little snow. On Thursday, CDH closes out its regular season at Roseville

HM plays Mahtomedi and Moorhead.

AHA plays Farmington, Stillwater and Northfield

BSM doesnt play until the 16th vs Robbinsdale.

The first Mass in Lent yesterday was especially joyous as everything is covered in Purple and Gold.

Jesus fasted for 40 days in the dessert and allowed Himself to be tempted by Satan to prepare for what was to come.

Our Catholic boys playing with the Red PioRaidaStars likewise prepare themselves for what is to come.

Lent is here and the hockey is getting a little tighter. You can feel it.

You can feel it all the way From Constantinople to St Paul

Well, I knew he was a fictional character starring in a well-written fable, but to spend 40 days not just eating a dessert, but actually IN the dessert - WOW! He would have been quite a man to actually do that and continue to fast.

There is no doubt of that.

You may choose not to belive in Him but He believes in you which is hard to understand.

Just as we believe in the Red PioRaidastars all the way From Constantinople to St Paul

It's that time a year again, Lent is upon us, Palm Sunday is rapidly approaching and the Swiss Guards at the Vatican are talking hockey whenever they get a free moment.

The added security is appreciated. With the Knights, Hell's Angels and now the Vatican Guards, we should be well protected against persecution.

My own personal bodyguards, the High Flyers, are also comforting to have on the journey.

Today the road swings north on I35 for the CDH Raiders and some of their fans who can get off work. The Marshall folks were kind enough to schedule this one at 5:30 today so us cidiots will have to leave by 3:00 at the latest. Dulutherans.....some things never change.

This will be a good game for both teams to prepare for what lies ahead on the road.

Our Red PioRaidaStars are lookin lean and mean so far this Lent.

jackdaniels' shift ends at 3:00 so I will pick him up at the bridge and he will ride shotgun. Of course, this will be mounted for extra protection:

Some folks have those GPS devices. Not me. He will show us the way. The way From Constantinople to St. Paul
