I think you are right Ness probably will win it. However, give credit where it is due. I think you earn this award on the ice and it is not just given to someone because they go to the UofM. Ness had to double up on academics just to become elligible. If he wins congrats, if does not I hope it is someone as deserving and there is more than one deserving on the list.RLStars wrote:The Junior Aaron Ness will be Mr. Hockey 2008. Since they had to use some word play to get him in the running this year before he leaves for the UofM next season, I'd say the voters want to give him his big award before leaving HS hockey.

this truely is a tough list to make and alot of amazing players are left out. ricky litchfield is one of the top scorers in the state and hes not on there which is a little dissapointing but its not an easy top 10 to decide on. if academics comes into play, i would have to go with ness. completing two years of schooling in one year is a hell of an accomplishment, congrats boys.

You cannot be serious. Bohrer is NOT better than Mueller. Mueller and Eddy are probably tied for the best two players in the SEC and at least one of them deserves to be on this list. They both put up good numbers in a deep conference, even if it doesn't have an elite team this year. You have to be crazy to think Bohrer is better than Mueller.komada77 wrote:Bohrer and EddySEC Scotty wrote:Who is better than Mueller?komada77 wrote: Probably because Mueller is the 3rd best player in his confernce, which is on a down year

I've seen Mueller play 3 times this year, Bohrer 4. On each occasion, Mueller has disappointed and Bohrer has continued to impress.SECHockeyFan wrote:You cannot be serious. when did the mr hockey award be about who was gonna be most successful in the NHL? what happened to stuff like being a great hockey player (feinage, are you kiddin me? brown's just a cherry-picker), a leader, good sportsmanship (again, feinage...he got thrown out of a game for shoving the ref! gleason?), a decent student, good teammate....can anybody help me with this one?

Basically, NHL and college scouts vote on the award, so I think they are biased on potential, and maybe more toward the guys they are actually scouting.
It's not a perfect system, but its all we have right now. I'm just glad the private school curse was finally lifted.

Gopher Blog seems to know the ins and outs of this process. Maybe he will come by to shed some light on it for you.
....Can't thank you enough for the time.

Ness will win in my opinion. This seems to be a Gopher Award with a few exceptions.pucknstick10 wrote:I agree that Ness will win Mr. Hockey buy Youso's face off percentage will have no effect on how many votes he receives.
The only glaring omission from the list is Chris Student. He had a big year and I'm surprised not to see him on the list.
