AA State Championship EDINA vs HILL MURRAY
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)
I couldnt disagree more that HM has an edge in depth. That Gaarder line (#2) for Edina is rock solid.
This game pits my season long pick (Edina) against the best team to come out of my homer section (H-M).
I give H-M the edge in coaching as Lech knows how to get the most out of his teams.
Depth goes to Edina who can put their #2 line out and not give up much in talent.
Cash$ (Rusty) is pretty darn good when he needs to be but Flip gets the edge in nets. He proved against the Rams that the Brimsik award was no fluke.
As good as Sova and his blue line buddies are, Gleason is the man.
I think you could just about flip a coin but I'll take the Hornets 5-3.

I don't disagree with you in the least.Lurker 83 wrote:I missed the Edina games so can't give an opinion on Edina's size but I will take the well-rounded team 99% of the time. Hill has proven to have offense, defense and a GK who is not choking. (Note to Hill fans- say extra Hail Mary tonight.)Nostalgic Nerd wrote:Let me put it this way. Hill could not have an average defense and still expect to get to the state final just on pure offense. That's how big and developed this Edina first line is. They can have an average D and still be in the final.Lurker 83 wrote: Isn't HM the team that is the highest scoring in the state and just doubled the most allowed all seaon against the formerly undefeated defending champs? But Edina has the offensive advantage?
If not for Lee, Hill could have had three-four more goals on breakaways.
Edina has to be ready for a Hill team that likes to hit and take advantage when Hill takes bad penalties. (I hope they don't)
HM gets revenge for '88 5-3 Pioneers
Let's play the game and see who is right.

Dont get me wrong, he is capable of playing a good game, but Cashetta is overrated. He is an average goalie on a phenomanal team. I hope Phillipi uses the grand stage tomorrow to show why he was 1st team all metro, he was great tonight. Cashetta is much more prone to letting in a weak goal, and hasn't played his best hockey throughout sections and state. Look for Hill to take this one 5-4mulefarm wrote:HM has an edge in depth. Stay Classy, Minnesota.

The third goal Cashetta gave up on the short side was primarily his fault. He didn't have a proper angle. Meier or whatever his name is from Benilde could've done a better job on a couple too. Cashetta can move around too much IMO.Papa Bergundy wrote:Dont get me wrong, he is capable of playing a good game, but Cashetta is overrated. He is an average goalie on a phenomanal team. No JV Title for Roseau or Benilde. STA has their sights set on it.mulefarm wrote:Sore Loser! Don't blame the announcers. You can still win the JV title.rockcrusher wrote:Who cares? Nobody north of Forest Lake will be watching anyway. I'm so sick of Lou Nanne I could vomit. If you're not from the metro Lou doesn't think you exist. H-M did play one heck of a game, and they took the Rams out of their element.. I'm sure this post will raise a serious rukous with everyone south of Forest Lake.......................

na hog.....edina is good the two games they lost were by 1 goal. they are realllllly good cant wait till tomorow you will see me tomorow the guy in line with some brews in his belly. rosblows hahahaEV2003 wrote:I'll take Hill-Murray in barn burner. Seems like Edina has a difficult time getting the puck out of their zone. But once they get it into the offensive zone it's fun to watch. The difference tonight is Edina has the size/strength to counter-punch, unlike Roseau. Unfortunately the best game of the tournament was played last night. I see Edina winning 5-2.
Any announcer who says something constructive, bad or critical of a team therefore becomes lousy to that fan. It's pretty simple. I liked Lou's take on Edina's D sagging too far into the zone, or HM's D holding the blue line making it difficult for Roseau, or HM's tape-to-tape passing... Lou Nanne knows hockey. Period.
