The 2005 Holy Angels win over Moorhead, largely because this board went into an all out meltdown, with longtime posters being banned debating on was it a high or stick or wasn't it, there was no middle ground; either the goal was good or the refs fixed the game to keep Moorhead (and all theirr free agents  from winning a state title)..........It made hanging chad gate in 2000 or our 2008 Senate race seem tame and civil. The pure comedy of this board made for fantastic reading and if I remember correctly some really hard moderating. (right Lee?)

The only other game I can really remember an official having direct impact on a state tournament game, at least recently, was in 2002. Hill Murray beat Lakeville in OT, it was the last game of the day and an absolutly bunk call went on lakeville in OT, H-M scored on the powerplay and the ref who called the penalty was essentially run out of officiating.

Well, it was the first time someone actually picked up the phone and called me to protest his banning. Thing was, Mitch banned him. :) Like I was going to veto Mitch. Image

In hindsight, it was pretty funny. At the time, having the same topic pop up over....and over....and over again was a royal pain in the backside. So Mitch (and I) dealt with it.

That particular poster came back the following season with a new nick, of course. Which proved at least one thing to me.
