Hill may lose in the Schwans tourney, hard to say without knowing who they will face.
Odds are they will lose one or two in January.

EP and ER game will take one of them out. Neither will make it out of January.

My pick for last man standing.

Eden Prairie will be the next to fall on 12/19 to Elk River

My guess is the rest will fall in this order....
Elk River 12/21 (Grand Rapids)
Luverne 12/21 (Achiever Academy)
Mankato West 12/27 (Duluth Marshall)
Hill Murray 12/28 (Gold Championship probably vs St. Thomas)
Which leaves the last undefeated team.........
St. Cloud Cathedral who won't make it long into 2014. 1/3 (East Grand Forks)

Elk River will lose to EP or Edina in the classic. Grand Rapids will be playing their 4th game of the week when they meet ER and I would think ER will handle them this year at the Classic.

ER/Zimmerman loses 3-1 to EP. That being said, EP has not beaten Edina in this Tourney since 2005 which is amazing since they have won 2 state titles since then.

Luverne tied STMA today, 1-1. They won the shootout to advance in the tournament, but officially it goes as a tie, so scratch the Cardinals off the list. Also, Eden Prairie lost Dec. 21, and again today

That leaves two
Class AA - Hill Murray 8-0, faces Minnetonka Friday
Class A - Mankato West 10-0, faces Appleton East (WI) Friday

So when a team plays in a tournament with crystal clear rules set in place for a winner and a loser, and one team clearly wins according to the rules, its not a win.

Understood.......

It is a widely accepted fact that all tournament shootout wins are considered ties, and in fact are officially considered a tie by the MSHSL. The shootout is only allowed to advance a winner for the sake of the tournament bracket, not for win/loss records.

Looking over the thread, blueblood is the only one with a possible correct prediction. And right now it seems West has a pretty good shot of making it all the way, or at least one more day.

A team that knows what is expected of it, completes expectations, ends up with negative notch on its record.

Universally accepted or not. Unfortunate.

Unfortunate... maybe. But this is not a new thing - its been around for ages - both teams and coaches were well aware of this, so they really did not complete expectations if their goal was to post a "W" on their record.

Stop whining NotTonight! Everyone knows, including you, it goes down as a tie. I watched your cards and have to say I wasn't too impressed. They play a middle of the road cities team and couldn't do anything offensively. 1 player stood out and that was your defenseman 22. He didn't lack much and made up what he did with swag.

You do realize that only tournament games go to shootouts right? Not every regular season game goes to a shootout which is why it is considered a TIE. Your Cards still have 0 losses.... be happy.
