Yes, the high school situation is MSHSL not Minnesota Hockey, but the movement at the youth level—check out the rosters of last year’s Tonka and Osseo-Maple Grove Peewee AA teams that played in state title game—that Minnesota Hockey does have control over is absurd and not investigated. Families are getting fake leases or using a friend’s address to claim they “live” in the youth association’s boundaries while still living at their real home and still going to school where they actually live. Tonka and OMG (two of the state’s biggest associations, making their recruiting even more ridiculous) aren’t the only ones doing this, but they are particularly terrible and blatant offenders. OMG’s Peewee AA coach, Derek Peltier, has recruited players from his SDP AAA program all three years he’s been the OMG Peewee AA coach. None of Peltier’s recruits live in OMG’s boundaries (they claim to live at addresses they don’t and none of them go to school in Maple Grove). EVERYONE knows this. The recruits and their parents are open about it, making it even more absurd. Until Minnesota Hockey quits ignoring this and throws the book at offenders it will only get worse.elliott70 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 12, 2025 11:58 amThis is not a Minesota Hockey controlled event.BSUBeaver wrote: ↑Tue Nov 11, 2025 6:09 pmYeah, leave it to Minnesota Hockey to allow a free for all in youth hockey.smhockey77 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 11, 2025 12:48 pm "Returns to Edina" is funny given he played for Moorhead last season.
And MH (at least most directors) work very hard at regulating movement.
It is discussed frequently.

Re: 2025-26 Early Departure Watch List
First, this particular incident was not a MH event. So not absurd.
Second, how many players in district 3? How many paid staff in d3?
Third, if you know for a fact this is happening, why are you not reporting it to MH so it can be investigated? As my old boss used to say, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
Fourth, this is not the only matter the district director oversees. The director has many responsibilities in a volunteer capacity.
District 16 has about 2000 players about 250 refs about 400 coaches plus a bunch of volunteers plus about 4000 parents and one person to handle them and everything that goes with it.
And what do you do?

It’s been reported to the district and MN Hockey constantly. One of the associations two of the players Peltier recruited away from last year went to MN Hockey…loudly. They did nothing. “Well if they have addresses we can’t do anything about it.” Departed Association: “They live here and go to school here. We see them every day. What addresses are they supposedly living at in Maple Grove?” Minnesota Hockey and OMG: “That’s private.”elliott70 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 13, 2025 7:15 am First, this particular incident was not a MH event.
