As far as their record goes they are 1 win away from totaling their wins from last year. The previous coach never had a fantastic team either as far as records go. The best he ever did was a .500 team.My final comment is about their A bantam team, a couple of players from that team are playing varsity but they are without their best player from the A bantam team, Ryan Wolter, he plays for White Bear.

We won seventeen games in 2003/2004. You should do your homework on your own school. And try not forgetting the "old coach" kept you around as the fifth goalie out of the kindness of his heart. GET OFF OUR SIDE

My guess is thats what he means. From the sounds of these post they haven't been close to that since.

mounds view has had 4 or 5 players quit this year. A combination of bad attitudes and the coaches are reasons I have heard. By the way my three years playing for M.V. we won 43 games and lost 29 with a few ties thrown in. Coach Nitti was a great coach and motivator for me. our team at that time really liked him as a coach and a great guy. We played a tough schedule with teams like Anoka, Edina, Wayzata, Elk river etc. We had a great time and a great experience. I believe he was let go because a group of parents didn't like his "old school" ways. He demanded alot from us in the weight room year around and hard work at all times. The group that came after us thought he was to tough and demanding both on and off the ice. I hope the mustangs rebound and start playing better. The hard work and attitude I learned during this time has made more succesful and I appreciate how hard he was on us more now than I realized then. Just my opinion of the program from then and now.

itstime wrote:I've been watching this thread for some time. I'll start by saying I also agree the goalie is a huge reason they have kept the games closer. Also lets not get over our heads Imissmyhockey CDH is down this year. MV has been outshot 2 to 1 by WBL, 2 to 1 Wood. and 3-1 by Stillwater. Let me say I was around the youth program for 3 years and have coached some of these young men and take nothing away from them or the coach. My biggest concern with MV is that I think many people are just fine with being average or competitive. My feeling is that if that's what you want, you'll do just enough to get there but why not train to win? Lets not be ok with just being close enough, that doesn't get you to the next round come section time. Its time for this program to take it to the next level and have the attitude that lets beat the WBL, Woodbury, Rosevilles ect. and start putting in the extra time as a team to get over the hump. It can happen but it needs to start by changing the attitude of how they approach the season. Being part of the program it will always be apart of me and I want to see these program get turned around but it will take lots of hard work!
It sounds like thats what this indivdual is taking about. Things made to easy. I don't know but maybe the coaches don't demand enough?

I tend to agree with some of what "itstime" is saying about the program. What will it take to get back to that hard work attitude? Will it be a new coach, a culture change, or does the area just have to accept it?

3 years ago there were several posts on this program when Nitti was removed, here we go again. Wih the sucess that the A bantam team had last year, you would think they should be in a good position during the next 2 seasons as those players get their feet wet at the high school level.

Time will tell.........

The Nitti years seemed like a fairly good time to be on the team. He was always asking for everyone to give it their all and try to become the best hockey player they could be. The coach now doesn't seem to have a very good control over his players. I mean, those who quit are just stupid in my opinion and their attitude is bad. They are going to miss out on those years of hockey because no way are they making a career out of it. Mounds View has a pretty good team and their goalie is playing great so far but they just aren't getting very many bounces going their way. This team could probably be anywhere from 4-6 to 6-4 in the conference. Hopefully they can finishthe season strong and play well in sections and maybe get past the first round since the 1980's, god damn.

Mounds View advanced to the section semifinals in 1992 when they upset Brian Bonin and White Bear Lake in the quarterfinals.

That's close enough to the 80's in my opinion.

it says on follow the puck that mv is 2-9 in conference and 8-10 overall, so they must be doing a little something right and it says they have more goals for than goals against so they seem to be doing decent.

Who is producing offense for them?

I don't know if I would say 2-9 in conf. is decent but thats just me. As for players doing the scoring. Pederson (senior) Bothwell (senior) at least last time I checked?

This year definitely has been Pederson, Bothwell and Jacobsen doing most of the scoring. A couple players that I have seen creating chances but haven't put them away yet have been Joe Hau and Jake Elms. Defensively, Menk and Wolter have been doing a pretty good job. They just aren't getting the bounces that they deserve.
