Well, what does it say? What day was it published?
I attempted to read it online, but I was redirected to a page where I was required to pay for an online subscription - no thanks.

well i didn't know that kids could talk about other teams this way but.. here some of it is....i'm not going to put their players names

" a tie is better than a loss... we want to go undefeated and we still are though we're not perfect anymore"

"we should have won. Their goalie (kendra olchefske) wasn't that good, said (player)..... their defenders aren't really that great, they stand around and wait for you to come down the middle"

"nobodys happy about this tie, but we're not like 'oh my god, we tied!.. its much better than losing"

personally i think it makes this team seem cocky conceited and they shouldn't talk that way about other teams. it also doesn't make them look very intelligent either

personally after playing against that town in hockey for many years, it doesn't surprise me.. i remember playing aginst faribo at shattuck and the parents were throwing change on the ice. they have always been decent but always have hated them...

I've read the article, oh well. The fact that the quote(s) were actually printed is the problem. I find less fault in what was said than the fact that it was actually printed. Not to mention the author adding the Albert Lea goalie's name, which is completely unnecessary. The article's author has to realize who he is interviewing too. High School age people are going to say things that may not be print worthy. At best, it's shows a lack of professionalism on the part of the author.

nijo6,
You can't hold the people of Faribault responsible for the actions of a Shattuck crowd. Most of the players/parents at Shattuck aren't from Faribault.

Albert Lea just defeated Owatonna 3-2 in regulation.

The Owatonna team got frustrated and took quite a few cheap shots late in the third period. They wound up with a 3-5 disadvantage for about the last 3 minutes, with 3 people at a time in the penalty box.

Hook, Hook, Cross-check, Trip, Trip...and gave up 2 goa;s to lose.

Albert Lea was patient, and outplayed Owatonna in the third period.

Owatonna's #11 is a fine player, and so is #15...

Their goalie just had too big of a five hole tonite.

Look for AL to gain some more respect come Sections.

That was a good win for the Albert Lea girls, I don't know if Owatonna has ever lost to Albert Lea at Home??
AL started slow, but slowly the momentum started to swing. Owatonna got out to a 2 goal lead, but Albert Lea hung in there and finished with 3 unanswered goals. Of course, it didn't help Owatonna that they took 7 of their 8 penalties in the 3rd. Owatonna spent the final 4:49 shorthanded and the final 2 minutes killing 2 different 5 on 3's.

T,
I agree #11 & #15 are nice players, so is #7. I think the Owatonna goalie is a youngster, maybe played U12 last year?? So said the guy standing next to me anyway.

albert lea had a pretty strong game, they finally started scoring a few late in the game. owatonna just took bad penalties and really lost the game for themselves. the crosscheck was even after the whistle in front of the net. To make it better, albert lea boys beat owatonna in overtime following the girls game, home sweet home for owatonna huh...

AL vs Owat

Post by golfreak »

It's about time that the Huskies started getting called for some of the hooking and tripping that was going on all night. I guess it took the AL coach to freak out before the refs decided to call something. That's two games in a row now that AL has ran into questionable reffing, they have still gotten 3 points out of those 2 road games.

Questionable officiating?? I watched the entire game and didn't think the officiating was a problem at all. Except the call against the AL player when she and an Owatonna girl collided. Last week the AL player fell and Faribo got the penalty, this week the Owatonna girl falls and Albert Lea gets a penalty. You shouldn't get a penalty for being stronger on your skates than the other player.

officiating

Post by hocsocstud »

the refs feel to obligated to call everything and anything they see nowadays, it is getting out of hand. but albert lea does run into some inconsistent calls, but that happens to all teams. the bottom line is that albert lea capitalized on penalties, if that is what it is going to take for teams to win games now, so be it

Games 12/14/06

Post by RSI »

Games for Thursday.
Austin at Faribault
Mayo at West
Albert Lea at JM

Any thoughts? Not too many Section match-ups, but that Austin @ Faribault game could be interesting. I think Austin is a better team, but I think Faribault is going to win a squeaker. I have a feeling Faribault has been looking forward to this for a while, just a hunch.

I think Faribault will win just because there the more aggressive team, Austin is a better team but i don't think they are as aggressive

hopefully faribault will beat austin tonight maybe it will knock some sense into austin and prove that they are not a miracle team.... faribault is faster than austin.. austin defense are not very fast.

I still have not heard a word, about how great Austin is, from anybody but Albert Lea parents. The miracle team?? Where do you guys get your info. Austin isn't that good and doesn't profess to be. There are 4-5 good teams in the section that will make it interesting. There is no major standout.
After reading this forum I have decided that Albert Lea will win the section.
However you are right that we will win tonight. Go Falcons.

I seen austin play, they handle the puck very well, and there forwards seem to move the puck around pretty good, as fo a miricle team, I don't see it, they are pretty solid but i see more aggresive teams beating them

falcons89,
Going with the "no respect" card???
You guys are solid, don't sweat it, it's early. Near as I can tell, the Faribault/Austin match-ups will be great games all year. They could, and will, go either way. I can picture a 1 vs. 2 rubber match game in Section Finals.

Austin

Post by golfreak »

Falcons89,
I have said from day 1 that Austin is the best team in the section. I have just said that people have built them up to be something that they definetely aren't. By the way, I'm not even close to being an AL parent.

My apologies golffreak. I saw by your previous statements that you were at the Albert lea/Austin game and the Albert Lea/ Owatonna game and had a strong opinion on the Albert Lea/ Faribault game, that you must be an Albert Lea parent. I guess you just like to follow the Albert Lea team.
My point is, that I have not heard much hype from anybody else about Austin except from Albert Lea followers. I know several Austin parents and they aren't hyping their team. I think truthfully we all believe this will be a close section tournament. And yes RSI we have been marking tonight's game on our calender along with 5 others.

Apology accepted. And yes I do enjoy following this team, I have some small ties to it.
They beat JM 4-0 tonight. Heard it was a decent game.
Anyone have anything on the Austin Faribo game?

The Faribault team is really no longer perfect like the Faribo news said.
They lost to Austin 5-3.

austin

Post by hocsocstud »

the only ones that think austin are a miracle team is the team itself... this section is going to be very very fun at the end, i personaly cannot wait to watch it come down. i have no predictions but i am sure it will be rather interesting... how come there aren't any austin parents on here? that would definetly make it interesting

AL won, but did not play that well against JM. #'s 5 and 17 are nice players for JM. JM also started a freshman goalie who looks like she has a nice career ahead of her, pretty solid. AL put up 35 shots and she did a nice job kicking out 31.

Too bad about Faribault's loss. I was thinking/hoping they'd get the win.

Golfreak,
Small ties??? Understatement??

Not that big of one RSI. I agree with you hocsoc, this section is going to be very tight. Anyone can beat anyone on any given day.
