What are your thoughts on Alexandria, they blog all the time here. Are those kids as good as their parents write about? I haven't had the pleasure of being able to see any of the Central MN schools play, including St. Cloud. I got to see the Crookston gang, holy crap are the Wheelhouse kids overplayed. Its like they're begging to come off the ice and get a rest and the coach is saying, "stay out there!!"

Hansonbrother, you are on the wrong thread to be discussing Alexandria. The players you refer to are Seniors - not Underclassmen. And not all who post on Alexandria are parents - they have other fans as well.

My question stems from previous long conversations with Boblee. Just trying to find out what's out there!

Although, Alex does have a few talented underclassmen that some may forget about. Michelle Anez has over thirty points as a sophomore through 16 games.

Quite right about Michelle Anez. I also think that we'll be hearing a lot more about Ally Nielson, Beth Rindy, Claire Illies, Stacey Paulzine and Shanee (pronounced Shaw nay) Herd. Not only are the Alexandria Lady Cards great athletes, scholars, and all-around-great-persons, they are all extremely attractive too. :D

Holmes and Justice are great hockey players, but seniors. Go ahead and start a thread about seniors, or Alex in general and we can chat about the Cardinals there.

I also wanted to say that I understand that the 7 girls I have talked about may not all play D1 hockey. A big reason why is other sports:

Emily Erickson is very good at tennis

Molly Arola is an outstanding softball player and is good at basketball too

Morgan Illikainen is a great runner, I believe in both Cross Country and Track

Molly Illikainen is a very good swimmer

JoHanna Kohorst is an outstanding soccer player

Thank heavens for Title IX! When I was in high school girls had very few choices for sports. They've come a long way, baby.

this is what this forum is about.. showing support for your favorite players, teams etc. Seems like there was a coach not so very long along who posted about the same couple kids non-stop, I was sick of it but he is intitles to his opinion. As is Boblee, who seems to love hockey and has watched more games than just those of his favorite Grand rapids team! If your kid isn't getting enough name time go for it! certainly don't blame someone who does show support for your kids lack of it!

Thanks guys and/or gals. I watch a lot of girls hockey. I watch a lot of boys hockey. I watch a lot of youth hockey. I watch a lot of college and professional hockey. I could tell you a lot about a lot of players on ice, but sometimes it is nice to get a dose of reality and realize there is a lot more than hockey. I know a lot about the GRG team because A. that is my hometown/favorite team and B. it's a smaller town and it is easier to know people on a more personal level. I think it would be great it more people shared more about girls other sports and their other off ice excellences. Whether that is dance, arts, theater, speech, debate, math team, whatever it may be.

boblee vs. hanson

Post by eastsidehockey »

boy oh boy boblee and hanson have been dropping the gloves!

I have actually seen the Lightning play over the years and have been impressed. I think when looking at 8th and 9th graders there is to many "what iffs" as to whether they will go D1. I do feel Gallop, Arola, and Havel all have that potential.

From what I have seen (granted over the years and not as much as i would like this year due to travel) Erickson can create for herself and finish for herself. She is the only one on a constant basis at this point and has been for years. That does not mean the other girls will not go D1 because they can not create as many scoring chances. So I think boblee may have a point that there is a possibility of 7 girls going D1. It is not a lock as many are too young but possible if they keep developing.

Boblee what do you do that you have the ability to mingle with scouts? you seem to know alot of inside information.

Who is ready for round 10 :D

Well, I do some scouting of my own (U19 Girls team out of Grand Rapids) I am also very close friends with Pat Rendle. Most important thing is, just talk to them. Scouts aren't going to shut you out. They may withhold some info, but who doesn't? Most of the scouts I know are probably through Pat Rendle, or they hear who I am and they are willing to talk.

It isn't meant to be a secret. In fact, many refer to me just as "Bob."

Lauren Barnes is also a sophmore for Burnsville. She centers Amanda Colin on the top line for Burnsville. If you are mentioning Amanda, you have to give credit to Lauren as well. Lauren is a great playmaker and has assisted on the majority of Amanda's goals. The two play great together and both play for the Minnesota IceCats in the off season!

underclassmen

Post by hawkeywatcher »

How come there is nothing on here about PHM girls? Julia Gilbert has been second top scorer next to Emily Erickson for two years running in section seven AA and she is a sophmore. Jamie Weiss also is a very good junior. And then on defense they have Hannah Buchite a sophmore and Emma Stauber a Freshman. They will all be players to watch!!!

Hawkeywatcher? Like the Hermantown Hawks? Where Julia attends high school? Please tell me this is not some play to get your child or friend some recognition on a chat room? Congratulations to Julia for her good stat sheet...there, now we're talking about her.

watch out for Red Wing 2 or 3 years from now. Right now they only have 2 seniors, no juniors, and possibly the best sophomore in the state rose alleva. they are very young and will have time to develop

Excuse me.... I thought the topic was who do you think are top underclassmen so I gave my opinion. Just because she is from the same town as I should not make a difference. I still think she is a top underclassmen in our area as is Sadie Lundquist, Molly Arola, The Illikanen girls and Lu Bellamy. I was just giving a response. I didn't know that if you didn't agree I would get slammed for having an opinion! Do you even know who she is??
