begals vs cougars

Post by hockey talk1 »

The bengals are playing the best hockey they've played all year. They will win 4-3, 4-2. They should've won the first game they played. They had some bad breaks on defense and missed a couple easy goals. They will not lose this one at home.

The cougars are playing solid hockey right now and should come away victorious on the road. Blaine has been over rated and underachieving all year and the Cougars have gotten no respect at all for their solid play. Cougars will make a statement tonight, final score Centennial 4 Blaine 2. Cougar fans better get out the brooms for the season sweep of Blaine.

Centennial - 2
blaine - 1
Final

The bengals were an overrated team. Centennial outplayed them once agains with a very strong performance by Jack Hanna. The best part is that the FSN streak is Broken and the whole state got to see the season sweep!

The only good part is that the MSHSL was able to easily take a look at this team of refs. Hopefully they have the option to not give them any playoff games.

The Refs were shaky but they were even for both sides. The refs had nothing to do with the outcome of this game. Blaine had there chances on the 3 on 5 power play but couldnt capitalize

"The Refs were shaky but they were even for both sides."

Lynch for "charging", please explain.

Ill give you the bad call on lynch, all I am saying is if you have to blame the refs for the game you didnt do enough yourself to win. They missed calls both ways and let both teams play dirty.

You are exactly right but I don't think that applies to this game. The refs, not the cougars took Lynch out of the game and that is very frustrating. Also, the three quick whistles on Hanna "cover-ups". There likely were some shaky calls the other way but not nearly to the degree they hurt Blaine.

An elbow to the head of a goalie is an automatic penalty. No matter what team you were pulling for the replay proved it was the right call.

The blaine v. centennial game that took place on feb. 15 of FSN was some of the worst officiating i have ever seen. not only did they not call the obvious penalties that centennial was dealing out, but they make several helen keler like calls against Blaine. Like ben lynch for chargin, or Bailey for hooking. furthermore, the refs were a group of premature wistle blowers when it came to rebounds by the goalie. i watched footage of the game today and they wistled down a live puck 5 times. i hope all of the refs who participated in this dibacle lost their jobs, and never referee any sport again.

The better team won Thursday on FSN.

The game I watched saw Centennial outshoot Blaine, have more quality scoring chances, a much better forecheck, and sustained pressure in the Blaine zone for much longer then Blaine did in the Centennial zone.

I guess when all else fails blame the refs!

This was a tremendous hockey game with section final type of atmosphere. We had debated about staying home and avoid the crowd but ventured out anyway and it was worth walking a mile and waiting in a long line to get in. Either team could've won this game and congrats to Centennial for getting the win on the road. Both the teams should do very well come section time. I am not going to get into a big officiating debate but I even questioned some of the calls/non-calls myself. However, it wasn't until we watched the game on cable that it was much more evident that mistakes were made and impacted Blaine more. And some of these calls could be game breakers/changers and for people to say refs can't win or lose a game is totally false, especially in a game this big and close. Even the announcers were questioning some of the calls/non-calls and quick whistles I don't agree with the "letting them play" mentality. WIth all the emphasis at all the levels to enforce the new standards of play - the officials in this game clearly were not enforcing the rules - tripping, hooking, interference/obstruction are ones in particular that have been emphasized to be called and were overlooked in this game. I do believe that different officiating in this game could have possibly changed the outcome. I just hope come section time that officials are consistent and are not part of the deciding factor for any team or games. Good game by both teams and good luck in sections!
