It's too bad they don't have the firepower, but a goalie doesn't score you goals. I was hoping they'd get a higher seed, but they'll close in the semi's against a team they've been shut out twice by.

What's Guggs doing next year?

I would have picked them to at least get to the section finals, unfortunately they got a tough draw. It'll be a one-and-done section tourney for them.

I think they've got a shot as long as they can put the puck away. STA is young and if richfield can get ahead early, I think it will be interesting.

This is too funny. Not going to post anymore about it. All couple pages before the last Richfield/St Thomas people kept saying with Guggs in net that Richfield would win and I just kept asking how having a better goalie was going to score them goals? People never responded, kinda just ignored that, then when they got shut out worse with Guggs between the posts no body had anything to say.

Just curious how this is any different. They've been shut out 0-3 and 0-4 so far. What is there to make anyone think this would be any different?

Ever since Richfield moved out of 5A a four years ago, people have been saying "This is richfield's year, they're gonna go to state."

They couldn't win Section 6A the two years they were there, they didn't win 3A last year, and it's not going to happen this year either.

Unless Guggs can snipe a few from his own crease (because from the amount of people talkin him up he must be able to).. I'm thinkin no.

The shouldn't even play the game since Richfield lost some games earlier. This is playoffs, it really matters now, Richfield will come out hard and maybe surprise you.

I agree if the team is healthy and plays as a team, they should be ok. Beating someone three times in a year is real tough, so STA is not a lock if they play. I say they have a chance...

HShockeywatcher:

Let me get this straight.
According to you, Redwing Lourdes, Richfield, SSP and the rest of the section (3A) shouldn't even show up to play!

STA is a great team and more than likely will go to state again this year, but come on.

You asked (Gong Show) earlier, why do you hate STA?
Its because of idiots like yourself!

The only way STA should feel proud about winning it again, would be to let the rest of the section hand pick a section 3A all star team!

Play them to go to state. Than it might be a fair game! (or go play AA).

Any private school with kids picked from so many different districts should have to play double A!

They should change it from class A & AA to a Public class and Private class tourney. Winner of each class could play each other.

b]HShockeywatcher, do everybody a favor [until STA wins it, shut your cake hole! Your ruining it for everybody else.

Should be easy for you, because thats when you usually do your best
poor winner posts.

Denied. Good overall post, but STA should not be AA. They don't handpick kids from all over the metro. The kids pick STA. The same goes for Breck, Blake, Totino Grace, Holy Family, Providence Academy, Lourdes, Marshall, etc. The enrollment is small, but the communities they attract are very good feeder systems. The problem is that hockey is becoming a rich kid's sport and quite frankly a lot of the rich parents want to send their kid to a private school. STA will probably eventually move to AA, but remember it is A in every other sport and they did win only a few games 4 years ago.

I won't comment on the game like I said, I will just clarify and add something.

The point I'm making, as it was ignored again, like it always has been, is how is Richfield going to score? I thought the last one would be lower scoring than it was because of Guggs, but plain and simple, how does having Guggs score you goals? There are two teams in this section that are more than capable of beating St Thomas. I didn't say that at all. All I'm wondering about is the St Thomas/Richfield game and how people somehow think they are going to be able to put goals up if they couldn't do it twice.

Not even going to comment on the recruiting comment, there's another thread for dumb comments like that.

Who are the six fools that voted Richfield will make it to state? Come on guys, use your brains. You six do have one right? They have basically no shot.

I'm always ignored? That's great. People always do ignore the valid points I make, but if I was truly ignored people would never comment on the things I say, like you just did.

Telling something they are ignored, is just the opposite buddy.

Also, if you're going to comment on how someone's post is so dumb and they are so wrong, you should probably include the main point of their post. I only commented about Richfield and asked the same question I was before the last game no one answered then some guy takes that to mean no one has a chance. There is no team in Class A that has a lock on getting in.

They're probably homers.. who have nothing better to throw out there than "We have Guggs". Which has already been shot down. There's nothing left to argue.

power92, you never give up, do you? The time you PMed me you said I had to have the last word, I never replied to you, did I?

The last two times you've commented on it in a thread, you commented after me (which is you wanting the last word) and I never replied (which is you getting it). And I'm sure you or someone else will reply to this.

Also, this is a discussion board. So, the point is to comment. Are you saying no one should comment because when they do they'd be having the "last word?"

I'm still waiting for someone to explain how having Guggs will score goals...

The things some people say amuse me.

If Richfield can get by a good Northfield team.

The SPARTANS # 1 line up front has about 110 points!

I think one of these guys sooner or later, against STA will catch a bounce and bingo someone will score. Hopefully Gugg's will be on and that's all they'll need!

HShockeywatcher do you really believe Richfield will never score on STA ever again!

I second the motion about HShockeywatcher shutting his cake hole!

Guggenberger or any goalie can get hot in the playoffs and this could be the difference in which team goes on. If Richfield gets some good bounces, STA will be vulnerable. Pressure is on STA, they have a target on their back every game. They aren't the same team as last year with Schroder. Still a long shot for Richfield, but by no means impossible. Should be interesting to see how this unfolds.

HShockeywatcher nobody said guggs would score goals for Richfield . But it helps when you have a goalie who can break the puck out for you. It also helps to have a goalie who is ready at any time to fire a break away pass to the weakside wing on a line change. He might not score goals for Richfield but he sure can help.

guggs is the only decent player on the team after this year they wont be anygood without him, but good luck to them somebody needs to put the over rated STA down, most people arent rich enough to go to a private school who recruits so go Spartans
