1AA Finals Lakeville North vs Roch. Century

Post by xcelcenterorbust08 »

These two teams played late in the season and Century won 4-3, but personally I think that was a prefect scenario for LN. They lost the game but it was very close and they got a lot of kids into the game to play (JV players). Everyone seems to think Century is going to win easy but people may have thought that in years past and they have won it 4 of the last 5 years. Do you think they can do it again?

I pick Lakeville North 4-3, probably in OT(s)

I haven't gotten to see either team play this year, but from what i've read i think North is primed to make the upset. 5-3 (en).

north looked bad against a below average JM team. 33 for North is a very very good player but he misfired on about 7 shots. If Century turns the puck over like they have been doing they will be in for a long night.

North has one OK line, century seemed to have 1 and 1/2 to 2 OK lines, North has a goalie, Century does not.

This could go either way, but the winner will have a hard time doing anything at state.

Gotta go with Century, too hard to think of a team that finished 9th in the Lake going to state

Lakeville wins in the 2nd or 3rd overtime (again). Their goalie will stand on his head, Grimstad and Kneopke will get pissy and become ineffecient, and I look for Zweber and Kvasnicka to have big nights!

Century needs production from guys like Briscoe, Knutson, etc...it would also help if someone like Sparks or Phelps scored.

I am confident that Century's defense will handle Lakeville's top line much better than JM could, but this is a talented line that has played some good teams.

Ewing will have to play well for Century - like he did in last year's section semi-finals and final. Most people forget he had over 30 saves against Mayo in the semis and ton in the 3 OT final.

The cream will rise to the top in this game.

I will take the Panthers in blue 4 Panthers in red/black 3 - single OT this year!

Century is 2-0 vs. lake teams which include lakeville north and rosemount. Rosemount had the sweep vs North beating them 7-2 and 4-1. Lakevilles goalie was the only reason it was a game vs Century. Century is not gonna come out slow this time either and there goalie is playing amazing!

5-2 Century

I think Century will take this one if they do three things. All three lines show up and contribute, They shut down lakevilles first line(which is not hard because they are not as good as Century's) and if Ewing is on top of his game. If they do all this I think they will put it away 5-1. if they dont do any of those i still think they will win 3-2 in 4 overtimes.

I'd also like to add that Century is 0-4 (in only 5 yrs.) against lakeville in the sect. championship game (alot of pressure), cetury's goalie is not good at all, north's goalie has been shutting down elite Lake goal scorers for 2 weeks now and has more confidence then ever, and century is a team that will take them too easy and dig themselves too deep of a hole.

In case you forgot-
North-4
Century-3
(in as many OT's as it takes!!)

The terrible ice is an advantage to North. The bounces will go their way all night long and Century will be wondering what the the state tournament is like once again.

3-2 (0 OT's)

I don't think the venue matters nearly as much as the fact that Century has last change (via #1 seed, not home ice). If their second line can play against Lakeville's top guys, Frutiger will have opportunities for good matchups.

Prediction: Ewing plays well enough for his team to win. Arentz stands on his head but it is not enough. Century 3 - LN 1.

mnwildhcky1611: Are you stating a fact that Briscoe is USHL bound or is that a prediction? I've not heard this before.

Question: why was Collins out of the lineup the other night and will he be back tomorrow night? (apologies if it was already discussed ...)

panthers2011... yes Briscoe got drafted in the futures draft and will play at tri-city next year. As for the rest i dont think the fact that all four of those guys are going to the ushl means that lakeville cant stop them it just means century has more individual skill. Lakeville could possibly pull off a win if century starts slow and doesnt play their game. Like i said i think century will win 5-1 they are to much for lakeville not as individuals but as a team.

What USHL team is knoepke playing for? Grimstad = Green Bay, Briscoe = Tri-City, Knutson = Cedar Rapids, Knoepke = ? He has not been drafted or signed with anyone
